Aromas of sweet and sour fruit-- raisin, apple, plum-- and slightly toasty malt. Flavors of dark fruit, again sweet and sour, with a sweet, toasty malt throughout. Bitter enough to keep it from being candy-sweet, light but not thin on the palate. Went great with my sausages, tasty stuff. fredandboboflo (1417), East Setauket, New York, USA

Aroma of raisin, dark fruits, some cardboard. Yep, this tastes like the other Schwelmer beers even though it’s a different style. Cardboard and stale wheat. Low retention. Very toasty malt aroma with some nutty notes. Taste is tart first, with a toasty maltiness following. The tartness is a little offputting and the finish is bland. Medium body. tgncc (843), Bellmore, New York, USA
| 3.2 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 5/5 | 6/10 | 3/5 | 11/20 | Aug 12, 2008 Attractive nut brown color with tinge of red, nice off-white foam. Sweet malty aroma, caramel, a little earthy. A little thin on the mouthfeel, and the flavor for that matter. Slight maltiness, and a little bit of hops in the flavor. Finishes about the same, a malty aftertaste with the slight influence of bittering hops. Not interesting, but drinkable. joekinty (263), rockledge, Florida, USA

The aroma is sweet malty with strong notes of caramel. The flavor is sweet malty with primary notes of caramel, but also a light note of straw, leading to a dry bitter finish. The body is a bit thin.
