Bottle. Pours brown with an off white head. Malty aroma, with notes of caramel and fresh bread. Medium body. Flavor is again malty with notes of sweet caramel, nuts and toasted bread. Pretty good.

Light efferescent german malts, partenered eventually by noble hops, soft easy bready malt taste, hops that taste like pekoe tea, and an easy bitterness that takes you to the finish. No complaints, pleasant enough session brew

500ml swingtop bottle, best before 88 10 83 (whatever that means) Picked up at Hi-times wine cellars, costa mesa, ca, so i doubt its from 1983... poured a dark brown with a thin head. malty lager aroma. flavor is slightly sweet and bready with a bit of nuttiness slightly bitter finsih (noble hops). I don’t think I’ve had a real german alt, before so i don’t have much to comapre too. this is ok, but not great.

Swing Top Bottle 500 ml
Appearance: Brown , quiet dark with thin ivory like top , brightly contrasting with base 3+.
Nose : Brown malt with light woody , nutty side to it , hint of plum wondering around 6+
Flavor/Palate : sweet malty , bready character up font . Short burst of hazelnuts found in the middle. Twig like slight bitterness. Cookie dough malty dominance with some alt character. Lacking typical bitterness and formula clarity.

The bottle looks not really good, but also not bad. The beer in the glass looks good. The aroma is very complex, a little bit alcoholic. The flavor is modest malty, not too dry, spicy - very drinkable. One of the best altbeers I’ve drunk up to now.

.5 L swing-top bottle, straight-sided lager glass. Dark brown pour kicks up a thick rocky head. Rich malty smell of a dark German beer. So far, what’s not to like? Taste is also pleasing. High brown malt quotient, like brown bread, in fact. Hop spiciness carries hints of white pepper and caraway, slightly more hopped up with Nobles than the usual German beer. A very occasional "peanut shell" oxidation note, but for an import bottle that’s come all this way, it’s held up much better than so many imports I’ve tried. Finishes with a vague idea of chutney. Definitely worth seeking out.
