Unfortunately it did not taste as good as it looked. Like the aroma it tasted of low mild hops with light sweet malts. Finished with a little bitterness. A bland brew. | 3.2 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 4/5 | 5/10 | 3/5 | 14/20 | Nov 17, 2007 Darkish brown, with mild yeasty and malty aroma. Taste like a subdued barleywine, an understated maudite. Easy drinking. Nothing bold and exciting, but a fine brew. kseecs16 (907), Naperville, Illinois, USA
| 3.3 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 3/5 | 6/10 | 4/5 | 13/20 | Nov 16, 2007 Bottle. Poured a clear burgundy with a grayish off-white head. Bubbly. A potent nutty malty aroma with a touch of caramel. A bit stale tasting with a dry almondy flavor. Tingly on the palate with a lingering bitterness. conor23 (110), Elgin, Illinois, USA

| 1.9 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 3/5 | 3/10 | 1/5 | 5/20 | Nov 4, 2007 Cola, tea, hay, and roasted malt bouquet. Cola colored with a medium off white head. Malty, weak, and unhoppy. Watery mouthfeel. Subdued sweet tea finish. This is my first alt and it is pretty much what I expected, dark and hopless. The one thing that surprises me is how tea-like it is. It’s not unlike Malta Goya. emerica56 (583), Bristol, Rhode Island, USA
| 3 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 5/10 | 3/5 | 5/10 | 3/5 | 14/20 | Sep 29, 2007 This beer pours a dark nutty color with not much of a head to it. There is an aroma of mild fruits and nuts. As you drink it there is a strong flavor of walnuts and mild hops. It also has a tangy after taste on the palate. Rastacouere (5561), Montréal, Quebec, Canada
| 2.9 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 3/5 | 6/10 | 2/5 | 12/20 | Sep 27, 2007 A clear chestnut coloured ale covered by a slowly fading off-white head. A very clean example of an alt with the usual toasty, bordering roasty, nutty malt notes complemented by herbal, spicy hops that serve mostly a bittering purpose. It has a certain floral acidity that joins the rest in mouth, but not obtrusively while more clean, earthy, soft malts of limited sweetness sing their song. Not bad. | 3.3 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 3/5 | 7/10 | 3/5 | 13/20 | Sep 24, 2007 Deep brown beer with some amber highlights. Dark herbal maltiness. A touch of buckwheat honey, black licorice and molasses. Herbal and slightly fruity. Strangely dry and sweet at the same time. Earthy with a dark caramel nuttiness and a rosemary/thyme herbal character. Anaesthetic hoppiness. Decent brew.
