Bottle courtesy of Plucier: Poured a clear deep brown color alt with a small foamy head with limited retention. Aroma of light roasted malt with some light toffee. Taste is also dominated by some light roasted toffee notes. Body is really average with some medium carbonation. I’m not sure I am totally getting the style since I don’t encounter it often enough but I thought this example was generally boring.

POurs a medium brown with an small head. The aroma of yeast , caramel, and toffee show of the malts. You get the grains on the mouthfeel giving you nice toast notes. finish is firm with some nut like nuances.

Sampled during Cellar’s Friday evening beer tasting. Pours a hazy dark brown brew with a fast dissolving beige head that leaves behind an-off-white ring. Aroma of light multi-grain bread, caramel, some toffee and grassy hops. Taste is medium bodied, dry, lightly carbonated with flavors of dry toasted malt, roasted nute, some dried pitted dark fruit and a touch of rye. Finish is slightly dry, little bitterness with some roasted nut flavor. This will be interesting to compare to other alts when I visit Dusseldorf next year.

Draught. A dark red beer with a medium beige head. The aroma is very light (but maybe because it was served too cold) and malty. The flavour is simple with nutty notes. Light body. It doesn’t impress me much.

Bottle. Pours maroon with huge, foamy off-white head. Good retention and lacing. Very mild aroma is caramel malt scents backed by grassy, herbal hops. Round middle has toffee and caramel flavors, but only a hint of sweetness. Flavor has lightly bitter, herbal and even slightly floral hops throughout. Relatively full palate with a trace of wateriness, but this seemed to make it a little more refreshing. Very nice lingering bitterness in aftertaste. Could have a few of these in a sitting.

500 ml bottle in pint glass. Pours clear dark brown with lasting tan head and lace. Bready aroma with mild fruitiness. Strong malt flavor, slightly raisiny with bitter clean finish. Exceptionally clean tasting while not being light. Medium body. Medium carbonation. I’ve only had a handful of alt beers but I think this is a good one.

Dark malnut colour with a fizzy, diminishing tan head. The aroma is of malts, caramel, raisins, faint chocolate and grain. The combination of these scents made for a roasty and sour nose. The flavour was of bready malts, caramel, and some sour fruits. The palate was too thin to support the flavours and the finish was very short. This killed the beer for me. A bit of a dissapointment.
