Nice amber/copper coloured body with a light white head. Nice bubbles rising from the bottom of the glass - no head though after a few seconds. Aroma of caramel malt, brown sugar, wheat and even a little bit of spice. Medium-bodied; Strong malt flavour with some light sugars going on and very little else. No complex flavours going on and no spice flavours at all. Overall, a decent beer - I expected a bit more from this one. I sampled this 33 cL bottle purchased today from Joe’s Place in Norman, Oklahoma on 03-May-2006.

Had this one bottled, thanks Slothgar! Golden reddish pour with a thin, eggshell head, and a fruity nose of apple, pear, malt and caramel. Flavor is slightly spicy, with some fruit and molasses. Finish is balanced. I enjoy this style so I might be overrating this one a bit.

Bottle@Home. Toffee, malts and some herbs in the aroma. Light amber color, small off-white head, no lace. Sweet, bitter, toffee, herbs flavour as well. Light sticky mouthfeel. Pleasant brew.

Thin sloppy head of varying sized bubbles. Light toasted malt aroma with some vegetal notes, corn and decaying grass. Color is a bright dark orange. Light malty flavor with more corn, some brown sugar and toasted nuts. Finishes clean and with some lingering malts. Nothing special and nothing bad (apart from an aroma that is a little bit different). Just a very run of the mill beer that will satisfy many a drinker.

Bottle from K and B Wine Cellar. Poured an amber color with an off white head. Aroma of apple bread earth fruit and something close to brown sugar. Flavor was heavy on caramel earth and fruit. A pretty straightforward brew. Only a hint of hops. Not bad tasting but just nothing overtly interesting about. One thing its got going for it is it is really easy to drink. Could easily finish one off in a few minutes. Will have to try more of their beers.

It’s dark amber with a huge, nice and creamy head. The aroma has notes of plastic, rubber and honey. The flavour has a light sweetness and it’s rather dry. The best before date is several months from now, but I’m sure there is something wrong with this bottle... The notes are chemicals and rubber :(

Bottle. I didn’t know Schwelmer had made a beer named after great composer Leonard Bernstein. The pour is dark straw with 1-finger off-white head. Nose is wheaties, nuts, earthy fruit. Tastes earthy, nutty, with malty, with mild brown sugary notes and a flavor that never approaches sweet, yet gives earthy notes throughout.

Bottle. Aroma quite sweet with caramel, apple, cherry, other fruits, all very sweet, sort of brown-sugar infused, hint of sour lemon sneaks in. Flavor also sweet, malty, citric notes. Somewhat weak mouthfeel. Simple, but tasty.
