This is a really nice, smooth and refined Hefeweizen. Cool and creamy, with some nice banana yeast characteristics. Sweet yeasty aftertaste with a hint of lemon is right on. This one is awesome. Fresh clove-banana aroma. bhensonb (4288), Woodland, California, USA
| 4.4 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 5/5 | 9/10 | 4/5 | 18/20 | Mar 4, 2006 Velvety banana. Minimal head, but I poured this into a Christoffel glass. The banana start finishes with clove. Translucent gold appearance - quite intriguing. As time passes, the clove tends to predominate. Arguably a bit sweet, but that goes with the banana! This may be the most pleasant hefeweizen I’ve had. austinpowers (2828), New York, New York, USA
| 4.4 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 9/10 | 4/5 | 9/10 | 4/5 | 18/20 | Feb 13, 2005 Schwelmer just showed up in the US, so their beers haven’t had many ratings yet, but they will. Schwelmer produces a delicious hefeweizen that is as wheaty and yeasty as anything produced by reputable German brewers. Utterly fantastic! Thick, rich and cloudy. | 4.3 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 5/5 | 7/10 | 4/5 | 20/20 | Feb 1, 2007 1/2 swing top bottle. Pours to a very hazy, golden color, with a tall, rocky, white head, and a lively carbonation. The nose is excellent, with lots of good funky/estery aromas of ripe banana, and bubble gum. The palate is tart and refreshing, with good pale and wheat malt flavors, paired with fruity, estery flavor of banana, and spicy hints of clove. This beer finishes with more good tart wheat malt up front, then ends estery and spicy, with yeasty clove flavor that lingers. Well done example of Bavarian hefeweizen from Schwelmer. I really enjoyed this beer, and I really like this brewery. RblWthACoz (963), Brooklyn, New York, USA
| 4.2 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 9/10 | 4/5 | 9/10 | 4/5 | 16/20 | Sep 20, 2007 Pours a very clouded gold straw with some white head. Nose is a strong mix of wheat, yeast, and fruit. A good touch of banana Laffy Taffy type fragrance on there. Okay. More than a touch. A lot. Flavor is fairly subdued and stronger with banana than I expected. As it warms it seems to be more appropriate. Feel is good. Nice level of carbonation that coats the tongue. As time went on I appreciated this one more and more. Pretty good actually. drpimento (828), La Crosse, Wisconsin, USA
| 4.2 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 9/10 | 4/5 | 8/10 | 4/5 | 17/20 | Sep 2, 2008 Inverted the bottle and swirled the goodness around before opening. Result is a very cloudy beer. Could smell the typical weisse aromas immediately from a couple feet away. Color is an unusual amber with brownish tan "lowlights". Sweet at first wtih those same typical weisse flavors but with lingering banana. Not too sweet. Refreshing finish. Great session beer. GreatStelle (360), Chico, California, USA
