Aromas of bread, earthiness and a hint of citrus. Palate was light bodied and crisp. Flavors of bread, straw and noble hops with a lingering bitter finish. detroiter (958), Euphoria, Minnesota, USA
| 4 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 4/5 | 8/10 | 4/5 | 16/20 | Jan 14, 2007 Pours a bright golden straw color, topped by at least an inch of white foam. A little bit of spotty lacing. Mildly sweet aroma.
Hmmm... This is pretty tasty. A smooth malt presence, lightly sweet with a little caramel, combined with a sweet hay flavor. A little zesty citrus spice from the hops in the finish. Not quite medium body and gentle carbonation. this beer is, however, exceptionally soft and smooth. GG (1686), NorCal, California, USA
| 3.6 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 3/5 | 8/10 | 3/5 | 15/20 | Jan 12, 2007 I can see that this beer would be a fantastic summertime beer, as it was a bit out of place drinking it during the wintertime. Still, it was an extremely refreshing, clean tasting beer. Aroma of hay and grass, and quite a bit sweet actually. Appearance is a golden yellow color, nice head with little lacing. Flavors were on the sweet side for a pils, but it still maintained the grassy/hay hoppyness. It was slightly oxidized, but it didn’t detract in any way really. In the end, what you have is a classic German pilsner. Highly drinkable, crisp and clean and enjoyable. willblake (2191), Belcamp, Maryland, USA
| 3.5 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 4/5 | 7/10 | 3/5 | 15/20 | Jan 3, 2007 03.01.07 33cl bottle dated 88.10.76. I’ll have to ask beastiefan what that means. Little pomp on the popping of the swingtop. Extremely pale straw color with smallish white head. Aroma is pretty sweet with nice saltine and mild grassy and savory hops. Flavor is in line with a lagery pepper and quick finish. Very mild throughout but no standout flaws that I notice. Body is soft and a bit sweet with a light syrupiness (is that a word?). Could definitely be a bit more carbonated, but still nice. Very pleasant and quite affordable pils quaffer along the lines of Bitburger...and in a swingtop to boot? I may be revisiting this one soon. bhensonb (4400), Woodland, California, USA
| 3 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 5/10 | 4/5 | 5/10 | 4/5 | 12/20 | Dec 28, 2006 Balanced light aroma of hop and malt. Golden color with a decent white head. Soft, but substantial mouthfeel. The sweetness is lightly grapey, and the finish is definitely hop. Mellow, smooth, and very nice. The lasting bitterness saves it from being "just a lager". | 3.2 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 3/5 | 7/10 | 3/5 | 13/20 | Dec 23, 2006 33 cl bottle. Crystal clear golden colour. Aroma is quite flinty and minerally. Nice pale malt character, tettnanger hop aroma, grassy/herbal with a soft honeyed maltiness in back as well. Flavour is nice and clean. Herbal German hops but also a touch of decocted Czech malty fullness. Nice combination of the two classic pils styles. Lots of floral/grassy flavour on the finish. Nice brew. | 3.1 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 3/5 | 6/10 | 3/5 | 13/20 | Dec 10, 2006 Clear golden, fairly large white head. Aroma is grassy hops with bready malts. Buttery mouthfeel, light but detectable bitterness. A solid Pils. heathcliff13 (1), auburndale, Florida, USA does not count | 2.9 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 4/10 | 4/5 | 6/10 | 3/5 | 12/20 | Nov 27, 2006 Not a bad beer, but nothing special - especially for a German beer. But it’s a nice change of pace after holiday parties and the usual American watery beer served.
