Off-white small head that quickly dissipated with sparse lacing, carbonated, transparent, and a yellow hue. Malty sweet nose. Flavor was sweet and malty and not much else. Tingly palate. But it’s had a few minutes to sit while I prepared my beer spreadsheet for this sampling, and now the nose is much more grainy, though it’s still kind of sweet. The flavor shows no floral hoppiness, but is definitely sweet and grainy, bordering on corn-flavored, and is balanced by a mildly bitter, but not spicy hoppiness. Light-medium bodied, and it’s somewhat crisp in the finish. Dark straw in color, but perfectly clear, significant subsurface carbonation bubbles form on the side of the glass, then rise at varying speeds through the liquid. I just love watching this, and it’s as mesmerizing as a lava lamp. The white head pours tall and rocky, and as it settles to a thin but complete layer, large patches of foamy lace are left on the glass for decoration. With slightly better head retention, this would be a perfect-looking pilsener. eczematic (1198), Sydney, Australia
| 3.4 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 5/10 | 4/5 | 7/10 | 4/5 | 14/20 | Sep 17, 2005 this really tastes like a good traditional german lager. honestly flavoursome but a bit rough round the edges. but a great alternative to the dependable boringness of becks or warsteiner or löwenbräu and friends. plus i like the 500ml swingtops for homebrew. smell is fat and malty with borderline excessive DMS and diacetyl and some round floral hops. looks great - bright, rich golden colour with lasting, dense head. flavour is rounded fat worty malt - full bodied and honeyish - with some supporting floral hops and just enough bitterness to balance. more like a czech pilsener than a german one. quite similar to hofmark in fact. soft and full and slick in texture. i like it DrunkenCumquat (86), Canberra, Australia

Grassy hop aroma with shy floral notes and a touch of malts. Clean and crisp slight sweet malty flavour and initial taste, medium body. Well balanced bitterhoppy and lasting finish. A truly nice Pilsner with craft beer character. stefanberggren (135), Madison, Wisconsin, USA

Good carbonation, hoppy bite (although could be just a tad more) Malty middle with a clean finish. Brilliantly clear with a nice white head that seems to last a bit. Refreshing with good body and at a great price. Try it when you have just finished mowing the lawn and the hammock looks oooh so inviting ! rudolf (1782), Buffalo, New York, USA
