Pours dark brown with a bubbly tawny head. Aroma of roasted barley, molases and brown sugar. Flavours are carried over from the nose. Quite dry with a trace of smoke. Chocolate, coffee, some licorice, and a berry like tart. Some iron/blood. Plenty of character. Nice beer.

Dec 24, 2009 33 cl bottle, Mulmur, ON, Canada. Deep black colour, sparse bubbley head. Strong roasted chocolate aroma with coffee and some sweet doughiness. Velvety texture, medium bodied with a smooth creamy bitter finish.

Dec 4, 2009 341 ml bottle courtesy of a trade with Boutip. I have to first say that I really like the retro stubby bottle. It reminds me of the short stubby bottles we had in the 70’s. The beer itself pours black with a moderate-large tan head that lasted until mid-glass and left ample lace. Very pleasant aroma of bittersweet chocolate and malt with a few roasty notes detected as well. The flavor is roasted malt, ash and cardboard leading to a dry ashy finish. Very mild bitterness at the finish. A bit disappointing given the promising start with this beer.

Nov 15, 2009 On cask at Volo. Pours a deep brown/black with small tan head. Roasty nose with coffee and a hint of vanilla. Taste is nicely roasty, mostly coffee. Body is not too heavy. A very drinkable beer.

Nov 5, 2009 A pretty darn good beer. A friend brought this home from Waterloo for me. Pour is deep brown black with a thin disappearing head. Aroam is nutty, coffee and malts. Taste is malty with hints of chocolate and coffee, but not too much. Almost flat. A very likable beer.

Nov 4, 2009 pours deep brown with a small white head that disappears quickly. Lots of dark flavours with dark chocolate, faint coffee, and roasted malt. Mostly roasted malt with a little aftertaste of hops. No carbonation.

Oct 12, 2009 The best smelling porter I’ve smelled in a long time. Chocolate aroma. Subdued coffee flavours. Really nice, medium body that’s perfectly suited to the flavour and style. This brewery has a problem with metallic aftertastes though, really annoying since they’ve got some pretty good brews. A beer I would pick up any day of the week and dddrink with dinner or just socially. Would session on tap like crazy at 4.5%, but alas, have not found on tap.

Oct 4, 2009 Bottle courtesy of Sammy sampled on 7/26/09: Pours a barely transparent dark mahogany with a large airy clumpy-lacing dark tan head. Aroma of lightly smoky black malt with a touch of toasty character and a hint of dark chocolate. Starts with some effervescent carbonation and sticky roasty dark malt before a drier bitter finish. A pretty decent smoky porter.
