| 3 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 3/5 | 6/10 | 3/5 | 12/20 | Nov 21, 2008 Pours a deep copper colour with a thin slightly off white head. Nose is nice and bitter. Not much actual hop scent, but smells very bitter. Flavour is almost more of an IPA than a brown ale. Some nice citrus notes which weren’t really present in the nose, and a bit of a bit of a malty backing, but not really enough for what I’d consider to be a brown ale. Carbonation is ok, and the mouthfeel isn’t offensively watery, but it isn’t exceptional. Eructoblaster (1480), Gatineau, Quebec, Canada

Pours a limpid copper body with good carbonation and a thin beige frothy head. Nice hoppy aroma with malty, oaky, and fruity hints. Its sharp, robust hoppy taste ends with a long bitter finish. Awesome! PaulHegedus (464), Georgetown, Ontario, Canada
| 3.5 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 3/5 | 8/10 | 3/5 | 14/20 | Oct 19, 2008 Cask at Volo Cask Days, October 2008. Pours golden. Floral aroma has a hint of caramel, butter, some grass. This is nicely balanced: bitter hops with apricot give way to caramel malt, a small nuttiness with some citrus, then underlying oak. matt7215 (962), Cambridge, Ontario, Canada

| 4.3 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 4/5 | 9/10 | 4/5 | 18/20 | Feb 19, 2008 Updated: Apr 12, 2009Pint from a Cask at the Castle. Man, is this a solid brew! Taps a murky amberish brown, with a large, frothy, beige head. Aroma: Strong aromatic hops, quite nice, with a very solid malty backbone. Taste: Unbelievably well balanced. You can tell there’s 84 IBU’s, but honestly, you don’t feel it as much as you’d think. My palate was taken away with the delicious malts, the bitterness mostly only evident in the finish and aftertaste, in the form of a mild tingling on the tongue that lingers. Man, this one is something special! Almost like a murky brown IPA, because usually Brown Ales aren’t really my thing. This beer definitely blurs the style guidelines of at least a couple different styles. Slacks (485), Bolton, Ontario, Canada

If there was ever any doubt this brewery sadly misses Perry it ends with this bottle. One of Ontario’s greatest ales is a shadow of it’s former self. Pours dark brown, good head, very nice lacing. The aroma is sour, almost rancid, prominent over mild faceless hops and malts. The taste seems infected, sour, with a metallic tang. Very bitter, but no character. Just tangy, sour bitterness. Perry come back!
Original Rating from December 28, 2007 on Draught @ TFOB: Poured rich brown, a thin layer of head. Hoppy and floral aroma with hints of sweet malts. The taste is incredible - some cocoa and sweet malts off the top and followed by some great balanced hopping, so pleasing to the palate. This was one of my introductions to Perry’s beers and he never lets me down, I just wish his stuff was more readily available to the average consumer. Great stuff! 8/4/8/4/16 robinvboyer (1428), Sturgeon Falls, Ontario, Canada

Aroma is very hoppy, and also malty, its like an intoxicating caramel, and citrus. Wow, i could smell this all day. Flavour is very nicely balanced, lots of bitterness in the finish, a very good brown ale. Perry is Canada’s best brewer
