| 3.8 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 9/10 | 4/5 | 7/10 | 4/5 | 14/20 | Sep 27, 2003 Strong hop aroma amber copper colour with small fully diminishing head. More of a coating than a lacing. Very bitter balanced by a big malt beer. Really thick full mouthfeel. Thoroughly enjoyable but hard to have more than one. Feels a whole lot more potent than 5.3% for some reason. On tap at Augusta's Winking Judge in Hamilton. jgb9348 (2495), Arlington (Pentagon City), Virginia, USA

Aftertaste bittering, but a good beer. I had this on draught at the Winking Judge in Hamilton, Ontario on 13-September-2003 with Josh (Oakes) and Scott (Publican). wnp22 (682), Toronto (Roncesvalles Village), Ontario, Canada

| 3.9 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 9/10 | 5/5 | 7/10 | 3/5 | 15/20 | Aug 2, 2003 Beautiful reddish/brown hue with a small off-white head. Roasted malt, hazelnut, milk chocolate, floral, woody and smokey aroma. Tart hoppy initial taste, some caramel malt comes on to balance the brew. Very bitter and coffee dry finish. Medium-bodied with a chewy and lively mouthfeel. Hint of alcohol feel. A above average brown that is a testament to the brewmaster art. Recommended. BeerSlacker (34), Ontario, Canada
| 4.4 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 4/5 | 9/10 | 5/5 | 18/20 | Jul 28, 2003 Updated: Aug 5, 2003Certainly the best beer to come out of Ontario. Even better than their Sgt. Major's, this aggresively hopped American Brown Ale is wonderfully balanced by a rich malt character. Dark mahogany in colour, a malty nose gives way to hop character. Although higher in IBU's than the Sgt. Major's, the Corporal's balance actually leaves the palate slightly sweet before succumbing to the the hops. A truly outstanding beer that gives credit to the brewer with each pint. jerc (3888), Toronto, Ontario, Canada

Nice orange brown body with a smallish off white head. Nice hoppy aroma. Flavour is very hoppy with a long lingering hoppy bitterness in the finish. Seems more malty than the Sgt. Palate is nice. Thought it was a bit warm at first sip but decided it was just right after half a pint.
Rated Nov 2004Draft. Orangey brown body, good size white head and nice lacing. Hoppy aroma with some malty notes. Substantially less roast than I remember, which is good since I didn’t really care for it at the time. Seems like a very different beer. Lots of hoppy bitterness, some noce malt and caramel notes in the flavour. Good mouthfeel. Looking forward to trying this again this season. 6/4/6/3/15
Rated July 2003Draft. I was anticipating trying the Corporal Punishment for the first time. It was not quite what I was expecting, and had more of a roasted flavour than I though. It was tasty but I prefer their Sgt. Major’s IPA. 7/4/5/3/16 mrkimchee (1414), Toronto, Ontario, Canada
