Great hops based aroma, with some malt, caramel, and surags coming through. Hopped up flavours, with some sweet malt citrus and brown bread. Great lacing all the way to the bottom of the glass. Bitter finish, with a woody aftertaste. Nice job Perry!

Eructoblaster (1508), Gatineau, Quebec, Canada

| 2.9 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 3/5 | 6/10 | 2/5 | 11/20 | Dec 12, 2006 had on tap at Magpie, like has been said before this beer has an identity crisis.... good amount of hops although not a nice finish i found but seems to want to be a brown ale and esb all at the same time being a super hopped big brother of an IPA decent but prefered all the scotch irish brews when Church key brewed them. will be interested to see if they do a imperial stout this year and how it holds up agains last years. daboskabouter (1470), Fergus, Ontario, Canada
| 4 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 4/5 | 8/10 | 4/5 | 17/20 | May 12, 2003 Bright auburn color with a red shine. Beautiful lace all the way down as with Sgt. Majors. The nose is dominantly chocolatey, somewhat like neapolitan ice cream but with a tinge of orange. The body is thick with hops but by no means over the top. Big roastiness in there as well, even bigger than their porter. A great lingering bitterness is rounded off by some sweet malt all the way at the end. Very nice beer, the IBU's are more than Sgt. Majors, but IMO taste milder. Nice work. joeycapps (1466), Waterdown, Ontario, Canada
| 4.2 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 4/5 | 8/10 | 4/5 | 18/20 | Apr 27, 2003 Rich amber/brown w/ fluffy tan head. Firm nose w/ lots of hops & malt(nuts, caramel, chocolate). Full-bodied. Lovely nutty, chocolately malt character slowly giving way to a somewhat earthy, very bitter finish. Extremely well balanced & surprisingly not overpowering for such a bitter beer. robinvboyer (1442), Sturgeon Falls, Ontario, Canada

Aroma is very hoppy, and also malty, its like an intoxicating caramel, and citrus. Wow, i could smell this all day. Flavour is very nicely balanced, lots of bitterness in the finish, a very good brown ale. Perry is Canada’s best brewer
