Commercial Description:
Our new bitter brown ale, Corporal Punishment, is our most complex beer to date. This ale is a wonderfully bitter, incredibly malty and nicely hoppy brew. Amber and Dark Crystal malts, and Willamette and Challenger hops are used in this 5.3 percent alcohol, 84 International Bittering Units (that’s right, 84 IBU) ale. A rich mahogany in colour, this ale blends flavours of fresh bitter coffee, dry caramel and nuttiness with light dry chocolate, woody hop and citric notes.

This was direct from the keg, courtesy of Pondoshuffles. Red copper ale with light malt and hops aroma. Intense hops, citrus, and nutty finish. Rich finish and body.

Strong hop aroma amber copper colour with small fully diminishing head. More of a coating than a lacing. Very bitter balanced by a big malt beer. Really thick full mouthfeel. Thoroughly enjoyable but hard to have more than one. Feels a whole lot more potent than 5.3% for some reason. On tap at Augusta's Winking Judge in Hamilton.

Bottle - 341ml. Pours a limpid copper body with good carbonation and a thin beige frothy head. Nice hoppy aroma with malty, oaky, and fruity hints. Its sharp, robust hoppy taste ends with a long bitter finish. Awesome!

Draught. At Volo. I’ve been looking forward to this ... Clear mahogany with a small head, lovely colour. Aroma is somewhat mild, nutty sweet malt with hops that seem pretty tame, floral and herbal. Taste - oh boy, those hops were lurking! You get the almost chocolate malt first, then the strong herbal hops in waves, bitterness that builds in intensity and pungency - this is like a strongly bitter UK-style IPA with *some* brown ale nutty malt character working in edgewise. The body is perhaps a little light, but this is a session beer for sure, I had a pint and a half of it on the patio and I was a happy man. Keep it coming, Perry. And I’d love to try it bottled (hint hint).

Shared with Pyrozoid. Caramel/copper poor with a quickly fading off-white head. Aromas of caramel, smoked almonds, wood chips, light pepper notes, white chocolate. Jesus lord!... Starts with a bitter bang, then comes some caramel sweetness all ending with a crisp dry finish. What character for a 4% brew! Hoppy flavors, hints of liquid smoke and caramel malts. Medium body. Impressive.

Medium brown colour, weak head, slightly unclear. Seems to have a little bit of sediment on the bottom, didn’t realize it though and didn’t get much of it. A little nutty and citrusy aroma, quite interesting, but could be a little ore pungent. Flavour is excellent, quite bitter with lots of deep hop flavours hidden in this beer. Very nice brown ale flavour, one of the best browns I’ve had. Can’t believe it’s only 4.3% with this much flavour. Hint of smoke and a long finish, very nice.
