| 3.2 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 3/5 | 7/10 | 3/5 | 13/20 | Jun 7, 2009 Bottle. Amber beer with a weird powder cocoa aroma. Flavour starts with a sour tinge moving to a sharp off-bitterness with an undercurrent of coca. Chocolate runs through the middle. Coffee notes in the finish. Strong hop aftertaste. Complex for a low ABV. Gets tastier as you go. Strange Brew (156), Toronto, Ontario, Canada

| 3 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 3/5 | 6/10 | 3/5 | 12/20 | Sep 15, 2006 Very bitter, with some feastures that remind me some English BRown Ales. Gives the impression of having just a few grains. With copper features in the foam in taste too. SimonB (65), Geneva, Switzerland
| 3 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 3/5 | 5/10 | 2/5 | 14/20 | Nov 29, 2004 (Bottle). Very small white head, virtually no lacing, fully diminishing. Opaque and a bit cloudy light brown body. Molasse, caramel and brown sugar aroma. Hoppy flavors in the mouth and heavy to harsh bitterness toward the end of long duration. Also pepper-like flavors, not so pleasant at the mid-end. Too light body, flat, harsh final feel. If it would not have been from the harsh feel, this beer would have been much more appreciated (at least to my taste). Sampled at MartinT’s place with other RateBeerians for the "Montreal’s Voyager Par Les Papilles’ first tasting session". probstk (1037), Nepean, Ontario, Canada

App.: Clear medium copper with a fair tan head.
Aroma: Tangy, sour, infected, nutty, hints of fruit and a little earthy hops.
Palate: Medium body and fairly soft carbonation.
Flav.: Still tangy, sour and infected with some nuttiness, light fruitiness and a little bread crust; on swallowing, it is thin and acrid with out of balance bitterness.
I suspect that something is wrong. This has defects I’ve noted in their other products. A shame, because I bet Perry would have done it well.
Re-rated Sept. 29/09 with a fresh bottle from the brewery.
App.: Deep copper, clear, nice off-white froth.
Aroma: Lots of nuts and burnt sugar, earthy and woody hops, stark, English malts.
Palate: Medium body and moderate carbonation.
Flav.: Similar to the nose with plenty of earthy, burnt, British malts and nuttiness, some earthy and woody hops; dry with fair bitterness.
Much better fresh and uninfected. mannika (100), Toronto, Ontario, Canada
| 3 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 2/5 | 6/10 | 4/5 | 12/20 | Jun 9, 2009 341 mL bottle. Pours amber with very little head. Aroma is a bit roasty and earthy. Flavour starts with a bitter coffee and then turns a bit sour - finishes long and bitter. Not bad, but I was expecting quite a bit more given the high ratings frankly.
