Determined and pleasant scent. Pungent aroma with detached notes of alcohol and wine white. Fresh and effervescent taste, a lot moved. Light apples rumor. Persistent finish and much balanced one. Indeed an optimal cider. ALLOVATE (1126), Perth, Australia
| 2.3 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 4/10 | 3/5 | 5/10 | 2/5 | 9/20 | May 2, 2005 Tasted from 500mL can, and labelled Symond’s Scrumpy Jack. Poured into a large stein, a white ring of bubbles sat atop a brilliant gold body, and produced some lace. Appearance seemed the only selling point for this one!! Aroma was sweet and lightly acidic, with a little biting spice, peppery, and a ’tinny’ metallic undertone. Tart and dry, apple flavours in the mouth. Light bodied and medium in carbonation, with a slightly soapy feel. Mildly sweet upfront and only lightly acidic in the back and into the short swallow. Everything seemed almost subdued and ’crowd pleasing’. Similar metallic edge plagued it a little, but I think this is bought upon from the can itself. One-dimensional cider, was quite refreshing, though, but equally boring. AAO (102), Næstved, Denmark

| 1.8 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 3/10 | 3/5 | 3/10 | 2/5 | 7/20 | Dec 22, 2004 Golden with rising bubbles. Aromas are sweet and sour apples with hints of vomit. Flavours are fairly sweet apples with a dry finish. Has a nice sparkle that descends into bloatiness. Not very good and not real scrumpy. My third mass-market cider of the night and I’m feeling ill. | 1.2 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 3/10 | 2/5 | 3/10 | 2/5 | 2/20 | Aug 25, 2004 Sweet and strong apple flavor, like slices of apples. Not crazy about this cider. Scrumpy tastes a bit insane. But chill it, like any cider, and its pretty alright. jerohen (1615), Bussum, Netherlands
| 1.4 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 4/10 | 1/5 | 2/10 | 2/5 | 5/20 | Aug 23, 2004 While some ciders are really good (e.g. Addlestone’s Cider, which is not even listed here on ratebeer), most readily available ciders are imho not really great. However, this one was really bad, even for cider standards. Clear yellow coloured with some pieces of undefinable crap floating around, no head whatsoever. Disgusting sour and dry flavour, i have just no words to describe it. Avoid!
