Didn’t think this was a porter, more like a strong ale or something, I guess it could be more like an english porter, but even light and not roasty enough for that. Toasty malts, earthy caramel flavor and light chocolate note. BillKismet (1952), Seattle, Washington, USA
| 3.8 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 5/5 | 7/10 | 4/5 | 15/20 | Dec 28, 2007 Dark brown amberish with suitable head. I am surprised to see this categorized as a porter as I would call it a winter ale/strong ale, though English brown porter could suffice. Aroma of milk chocolate and caramel which plays into the flavor as well. A fabulous winter seasonal with some complexity of malts; caramel, chocolate and maltiness. Perfact hop balance complements the malts with a touch of hop bitterness. sersdf (1000), chicago, Illinois, USA

| 3.4 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 3/5 | 6/10 | 4/5 | 15/20 | Dec 4, 2007 On tap at Winter Beer Festival. Pours a dark brown with a beige head on top. Aroma is roasted malts, chocolate, dried fruit, and caramel. Flavor is chocolate with hints of coffee and caramel. I can agree with comments of it tasting like a chocolate brownie but definitely not sweet. Very smooth on the palate with a light body. robforbes (1099), Bremerton, Washington, USA

pour is a cloudy brown with a tint of ruby, thin beige head that dissipates quickly, better than average lacing.
smell is of spice, roasted malt, sweet cocoa, hint of coffee, some caramel, and a little bit of dark fruit.
taste is creamy, spice, milk chocolate, a little coffee, malt, toasted nuts, a little caramel, and way in the back sits a prune.
