WA Cask Beer Fest ’06. Pours deep ruby. Aroma is malty and raisin like. Taste is pit fruit and slight alcohol. Grainy just a tad.

22oz bomber. Deep brown with a reddish tint. Medium ring of beige head. Caramel and spicy nose with a nostril numbing alcohol burn. Medium to full bodied with a nice alcohol presence. Flavors of dried fruits. Figs, prunes and raspberries. Vanilla sweetness. Sticky malts. Caramel and toffee notes. Hint of cocoa. Somewhat dry acidic finish. Good coffee bitterness. Good fruity esters. Nice alcohol warmth. Lively sticky effect. Well done.

Bomber. Pours a murky dark brown, almost opaque. No head, mild carbonation. Aroma is molassis, floral tones, sweetness. Taste is big molassis, some brown sugar, alcohol. A very light bitter hopping. Caramel sweetness. Finish is alcoholic with just a touch of burnt malt, nice. Body is just a touch too thin for the style. Certainly not a traditional American porter, as the roasted and chocolate malts are subdued. More of a hearty winter ale.

Re-rate - Still a little too thin, roasty malt without much character. Somewhat grainy with a mild vegetable presence.

Tap at the Latona Pub.

Pours an elegant dark brown with a nice rich head. Smooth roasty aroma with a hint of plum; the flavor is a nice mocha with a bit of leather, some spice, and an enjoyable whisper of alcohol.

All in all, and enjoyable and surprisingly subtle beer from Scuttlebutt.

(Bottle) Shared at the PNW Christmas 2006 party at Oakes on December 9th. Tan head with a deep brown body. Nose is highly roasty, iodine and ABV spiked! Flavours of chocolate, cherry and ash are somewhat pronounced. Nice stuff.

Brown with a slightly offwhite head. Aroma is slightly sour with a light hop presence. Flavour is malty with a touch of spice. Thinner and rather boring.

Cloudy brown with no head or lace. A touch sour. A little piney and somewhat bitter nose. Bitter and chocolatey with a little heat. Slightly robust, but leans more towards watery. Finishes out bitter.
