Ughsmash (3981), Waukesha, Wisconsin, USA Oct 24, 2009 Bottled. Poured mostly clear medium orange with a short, uniform cap of tan head. The aroma picked up sweeter caramel, fruity, and nutty notes, but there was a brighter detergent-like accent that really didn’t work.. some herbal notes too. The flavor found sweet, but also tart caramel and redder fruits at the core, with bright herbs and other non-descript bitterness around.. metallic and vinegary at times.. finished tart and tacky with lots of bitterness. Medium-bodied and well-carbonated on the palate.. the rest of the feel and flow were not good. JPDIPSO (4864), Wauwatosa, Wisconsin, USA Oct 14, 2009 Dark amber color with a small lid of beige bubbles. Aromas have just a hint of malt atop a tomato sauce mix. Sweet malt with a perfumed hops background that takes over well into the linger. Balance is off. I can’t say this was a mistreated bottle. Purchased and placed in my cooler. I’m just not digging the herbal hops. dwyerpg (2519), Las Vegas, Nevada, USA Oct 3, 2009 Labeled Anthony’s Amber two years ago. A nice floral hop aroma. This is good. Seems almost more hops than malt, a bit of caramel. A great amber beer. daknole (2805), Plantation, Florida, USA Sep 29, 2009 Bottle. Pours a clear amber, small white head. Malty aroma with light honey notes. Flavor has some caramel malt and surprising hop bite at the end. Not bad for the style. bhensonb (4187), Woodland, California, USA Sep 28, 2009 Bottle from Malt & Vine. Pours lightly hazy dark copper with very little head. Aromas of roasted caramel and fruit hop. Medium body with sharp, but mild, carbonation. Seems a bit buttery. Otherwise a little bready, and not a lot of hop, just enough to add some fruit. Decent amber. TURDFERGUSON (1594), Carrboro, North Carolina, USA Sep 17, 2009 Bottle from riversideAK. Thanks Alex. Pretty typical amber, but I kind of enjoyed it--which is not typical for me and the style. nuplastikk (1159), Madison, Wisconsin, USA Sep 14, 2009 12oz bottle. Filtered orange-red color with a quickly fading off-white head. Seawater amber malt with a solid hop undertone in the aroma. Lots of specialty malt, crystal presumably, give it a thick mouthfeel for a beer of it’s relative low ABV. Easy drinking and sessionable, while still havign a decent flavor profile. Solid syrupy West Coast hop backbone is certainly present, but never dominating or astringent. Semi-soapy amber malt aftertaste. Pretty solid amber overall.
