Mostly clear, deep, dirty orange ale with a small, creamy, off-white head. Decent retention. The toasty nose offers up lots of caramel and biscuit, but also has an earthy undertone. Medium-bodied with modest carbonation. Even warm, the flavor is well-balanced as the toasted, caramely sugars are toned down by just-enough earthy bitterness. Finishes crisp, then lightly sweet. Dang, maybe all beers should be drunk at about 80° F. Bottle provided by riversideAK! ucusty (1896), Wake Forest, North Carolina, USA

| 3.8 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 3/5 | 8/10 | 4/5 | 16/20 | Jul 16, 2009 Pouring with a modest-sized frothy ivory coloured head which produced a bit of lacing, the colour was a most attractive rich amber. The aroma was gently malted and the taste was of some nice malt. A plesant, refreshing beer to drink. douglas88 (1605), Salt Lake City, Utah, USA

The aroma is decent; light hops and loads of caramel malts. The flavor is full of a meaty caramel malt, light hops, some sweet fruitiness as well. A nice brew. Finishes somewhat soapy and bitter. mbgrayson (147), Anaconda, Montana, USA
