Flavour is moderate hops and malts with a slight bitter finish. An enjoyable IPA. JoeMcPhee (5030), Jackson Heights, New York, USA
| 3.3 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 3/5 | 7/10 | 3/5 | 13/20 | Mar 13, 2005 Cloudy orange beer with a thin white head. Resiny hop aroma, light grapefruit. Flavour is well balanced, hoppy, long bitter finish. Pine and grapefruit. Light crystal malt is apparent here as well. Well-made, but pretty typical PNW IPA. Sham (1846), Seattle, Washington, USA
| 3 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 3/5 | 6/10 | 3/5 | 11/20 | Feb 22, 2005 Light amber with a frothy head and spotty lace. Big hop aroma with strong bitter and citrus qualities. Sweet malts and caramel. Alcohol. Bitterness prevails in the flavor. Sweet malts show up in the caramel form. Fruity. Sharp bite of bitter alcohol at the end. A bit too bitter. Oakes (8142), Kowloon, Hong Kong
| 2.9 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 3/5 | 6/10 | 3/5 | 11/20 | Feb 15, 2005 Updated: Jul 4, 2005Bronze colour with little visible carbonation. Has a moderate aroma of citrus, wood, and maybe some tobacco in there as well. The body is slightly syrupy. The palate mixes resiny bitterness with the sticky crystal maltiness of a much bigger beer. Piney, cologne-like finish.

| 2.9 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 4/5 | 5/10 | 2/5 | 11/20 | Jan 6, 2005 Here is a classic example of a hop disaster. It’s possible this bottle came from an unusually potent batch, but everything about this beer reeked of IBUs through the roof - definitely more than 45. The hops in the aroma are great: full, fresh, amazingly fresh actually, very obviously dry-hopped. The beer looks great too, dark gold with a creamy head. The flavor is 100% bitter hops, the flavor of the hops don’t really come through here, it’s just the citrus and bitterness. I could feel it on my tongue a good minute after trying it, almost like a strong spice. There was never any malt coming to round out the flavor, cool the fire, the sherbet at the end of a spicy meal, the yogurt after Indian. All there was was bitter. I jumped in a car with some friends immediately after downing the last of this and everyone thought I had just eaten a grapefruit and then rinsed my mouth with peppermint mouthwash....not a good sign. Just bizarre. Gromit (462), Port Orchard, Washington, USA
| 3.1 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 3/5 | 4/10 | 3/5 | 13/20 | Jan 5, 2005 Good, just not really good.
Pours a light amber color with a good head and decent lace.
Aroma is the first thing that caught my attention: I could smell the hops when I first popped the top. Very citric.
Flavor is almost entirely hops with a little bit of malt, but not enough to balance it out. - and this is from a certified hophead. It’s sweet, but even that comes from the grapefruit/hops.
Palate is very crisp. Other than that it’s average. Overall it’s just okay. I really wanted to like this one better, too. I’ll definately try others from this brewery.

| 2.8 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 3/5 | 5/10 | 2/5 | 11/20 | Dec 31, 2004 Nose of orange (hop) and medicinal like KY (malt). Copper amber color, sticky head nice lacing. Taste is bitter, sweet hops are present, not even near balanced but lots of body & maltiness. Finishes bitter. Some life left in it. Like cascade hop tea almost. jah noth (1020), Rochester, New York, USA
| 3.3 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 3/5 | 8/10 | 2/5 | 13/20 | Dec 31, 2004 Slightly dusty, lemony fuity aroma. Medium golden in color, Quick head with some lacing. Mouth feel is thin, straight to back. Tart grapefruit flavor, again dusty dry, with lingering bitterness. Very slight mouthfeel, more like a pale. Decent brew, but not outstanding.
