Muddy amber appearance, good head formation. Dark chocolate aroma, caramel, toffee and dark fruits. Sweetish port-like flavor, mildly syrupy palate, dates, prunes, toffee with some nutty undertones. Marzipan towards the finish with a mild subdued citric bitterness.

2004 Vintage. Cloudy brown w/ wispy light brown foam. Relatively complex sweet, malty, slightly roasty aroma of maple, caramel, prunes, raisins, dates & flowery hops. Full bodied-chewy feel. Rich, complex malty flavour of caramel, brown sugar maple, & dark fruit. Mildly roasty w/ some woody/brady-ish notes. Warm, slow finish. Good bitterness.

Bang! Smack! Kapow! This has a strong alcohol finish with a great aroma of raisins and prunes. Other aromas noted were dark brown sugar and molasses. But don’t let those fool you - it still has a great bitterness expected in a barley wine. It had a little more carbonation than expected and the warmer it gets the mor syrupy it feels. This has a great soothing aftertaste. Take your time enjoying this one. Indiana_Red brought this one to my house along with his bling!

2005 Version: Marzipan, sweet, round, brown malty aroma with floral and perfumey tones. Clear mahogany brown with a shy ring of fine-bubbled tan head. Nutty, malty and roasty with sherry-like oxidation in the fairly boozey flavour. Alcohol becomes more dominant as it warms. Medium body with fair carbonation. Bottle enjoyed with CapFlu, Goldorak, Joey_Capps, Olivier_MTL, Lubiere and MartinT.

(12oz bottle) Purchased at Bottlewerkz, Seattle. Pours a caramel brown body. Nose of heavy malts roasted on a campfire. Jack open the ABV to 12.9% with a very brown sugar and roasted finish. Very good.
