Not overpowering coffee and chocolate. Add a little caffeine and this would be a hell of a beverage. It’s a little thin for style, but to my preference. HopheadHans (755), Bay Area, California, USA
| 3.6 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 4/5 | 7/10 | 4/5 | 15/20 | Jul 4, 2006 Bottle. Pours almost black with a nice head. Aromas of malts and chocoltae, flavors dominated by chocolate and hints of roasted malts. I do not find this porter to be watery at all, in fact it has quite a nice body in my opinion. | 2.2 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 4/10 | 3/5 | 4/10 | 2/5 | 9/20 | Apr 27, 2006 Light porter. Weak and watery. Nice hints of sour choco. Unsophisticated as a whole. The appearance is propaganda. Easy to drink. There is a faint spark of goodness which lasts a second (at best) after a sip and then disapears into the abyss of ordinary... very quickly. kramer (2465), Sunbury, Pennsylvania, USA
| 3.2 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 3/5 | 6/10 | 2/5 | 14/20 | Mar 11, 2006 22 oz bottle, via Larry Pitonka. Dark brown pour with some chestnut highlights, small light brown head that fades to a thin covering after a minute or so. Aroma of chocolate malt with some hints of roast, coffee, and yeast. Nice chocolate malt flavor with some tinges of burnt toast. Finish is dry with a moderate hopping level. A little bit of a metallic flavor on the finish as well. Light bodied and a little watery on the mouthfeel. The carbonation is a little too fizzy and prickly as well. A decent Porter, it could use a little more of a substantial mouthfeel, but otherwise drinkable. FoolishMortal (965), San Diego, California, USA
| 3.2 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 4/5 | 6/10 | 3/5 | 13/20 | Mar 3, 2006 22oz. bottle. Nearly opaque brown with a medium sized rocky tan head. Tinges of chocolate and coffee in an otherwise mild roasty aroma. Roasty astringency with a chocolate sweetness in the flavor. Slight saltiness in the finish with residual astringency. Mouthfeel is medium light, slightly dry. IndianaRed (1555), Boise, Idaho, USA

Very dark brown with a nice cremy long lasting head and nice sheeting lacing. Fairly thin feel but a nice dark roasted malt flavor. Carbonated a bit more than I expected and a nice charcoal bitter trailer. DarkElf (2681), La Jolla, California, USA
| 3.5 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 4/5 | 7/10 | 3/5 | 14/20 | Sep 1, 2005 (Draft: Scuttlebutt Brewing Co. in Everett, WA) Solid, roasty, lightly sweet chocolate aroma wafts from the glass, pleasuring my sense of smell. The flavor is less impressive, the moderately bitter, roasty maltiness seeming to dominate the beer, and though a bit of chocolate peaks out in the finish, the beer is drier and less sweet than the nose predicted. A modest smokiness emerges in the finish. Still a decent flavor, but not as enjoyable as I thought it would be. Medium bodied, but the beer finishes a bit thin. Mahogany color is slightly translucent. Light tan head pours to half an inch, settling to a thin layer, with a crocheted pattern of lace remaining behind on the glass. Doesn’t distinguish itself, but it’s decent enough. Oakes (8093), gone rambling, Vietnam
| 3.2 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 4/5 | 6/10 | 3/5 | 12/20 | Jul 4, 2005 Dark brown colour. Nutty, coffeeish malt aroma. Toasty, slightly creamy character. Clean, straightforward, somewhat thin, underdeveloped example.
