Commercial Description:
Our creamy porter is ideal for the dark beer connoisseur. It has a lightly roasted flavor with hints of chocolate and peat. A smooth finish and superb balance make it enjoyable going down. The secret to this beer is the extra aging. Even those just getting started with darker beers enjoy this one

Dark brown colour. Nutty, coffeeish malt aroma. Toasty, slightly creamy character. Clean, straightforward, somewhat thin, underdeveloped example.

(draft) Red-black body with tan head, nice lacing. Aroma is sweet, roasty, chococoffee. Taste is moderately sweet, chococoffee with sweetness, rather than coffee bitter, in finish. Otherwise, fairly generic flavor. Medium body.

12oz bottle acquired in trade with riversideAK (thanks!). Poured a dark brown color with a large sized off white head. Aromas of caramel, chocolate, and buttery. Tastes of roast, caramel, chocolate, and light coffee. The butteriness that was in the aroma was, thankfully, not in the tastes.

Dark brown color with a diminished tan head and decent lace. Light coffee and roasted nut aromas. Slightly silky, but the acidity cuts it thin. Toasted malt and a charred grain flavor. Seems to get thinner with each quaff.

Bottle: Dark mahogany, black color, thick tan head, light tan lacing. Nose of light alcohol and cherry covered chocolate coffee beans or the other way around. The flavor is fairly starchy with a dominant coffee and cocoa note along with the usual roasty chocolate notes. Finishes dry and a bit chalky, but overall balanced with the roast and hop notes. Nice.

On draught at the brewpub in Everett, Washington. Pours an opaque color brown brew with a creamy beige head that slowly dissipates to a thin film and some spotty lacing. Aroma of sweet oatmeal and chocolate malts, a touch of creme tartar, with some light vanilla. Taste is smooth, very light carbonation with flavors of smoked and roasted dark malts, chocolate, some vanilla and a touch of toffee. Finish is semi-sweet, malty with no bitterness and a hint of coffee aftertaste. A solid porter over all.

12oz bottle. Poured medium-deeper brown with a short cap of tan head. The aroma picked up a whole great deal of molasses paired with some licorice and vanilla.. some smoke too.. ooh.. this was surprisingly good. The flavor found toasty black patent malts, coffee, and molasses at the core with light earth and coffee bitterness and some smoke around.. picked up a little cocoa to go along with coffee on the finish. Light-medium bodied and dry on the palate.. very well balance. I’m shocked.. all the other Scuttlebutt stuff I’ve found locally has been brutal.. this was a great porter.
