Ughsmash (3981), Waukesha, Wisconsin, USA Oct 18, 2009 Bomber. Poured lighter golden with a short-ish cap of white head. The aroma picked up sweet honey and pale malts (way sweeter than it needed to be) with sharp citrus and clove accents.. candied, with lighter-skinned fruits showing with warmth.. too sweet overall. The flavor was too sweet as well.. honey and pale malts again at the core (with an emphasis on the honey).. sticky alcohol-warmed spices (clove and coriander) surrounded.. a touch of lemon joined on the cloying finish. Heavier-bodied with a thick feel from the heavy, slow-moving malts.. alcohol made its presence felt.. this was an OK strong drinker (just barely), and a very poor tripel. jake65 (1658), Williston, North Dakota, USA Oct 2, 2009 Bottle: A light golden pour with a thin white head. Smells ripe with citrus and cloves. Just a little lemon and yeast. The taste is more fruity than anything, light citrus and apple flavors. A little more lemon and a little less cloves. Yeast is barely noticable.
JPDIPSO (4865), Wauwatosa, Wisconsin, USA Sep 23, 2009 Golden color with a small off-white head. Heavy aromas of candi, honey, flowers and alcohol. A bit too syrupy smelling for me. Flavors of light caramel, over-ripe fruit, including, pear, apples and oranges. Finish is a bit hot. Comes off as a really strong blonde ale. BlackDonald (1127), Boise, Idaho, USA Aug 9, 2009 Draft @ BBF - Light fruits and flowers in the nose, with some sweet and smooth malts on the palate. Well balanced, albeit a bit on the fruiter side, simple and easy to drink. raphael (411), Portland, Oregon, USA Jul 25, 2009 Malt smoothes over the phenolly gas. good balance & complexity. sweet but not cloying MrRoss (614), Delta, British Columbia, Canada Jul 7, 2009 Updated: Jul 8, 2009Pouring out a smallish head, this beer was a cloudy dark gold. Aroma was quite Belgian, with some nice spices at work, as was the taste. Mouth was smooth, with a hint of sweetness at the finish. A very nice beer, such a shame that I’m finding things to write about it. robforbes (1083), Bremerton, Washington, USA May 7, 2009 pours a semi-hazy orange with a thin white bubbly head that goes away quickly, not much lacing.
smell of fruit, spice, pepper, roasted nuts, and some malt.
taste is creamy, carbonated, spice, sweet fruit, some caramel, and some roasted nuts, ends a tad bitter. Alcohoarder (22), Seattle, Washington, USA Mar 14, 2009 Bomber. Clear orange with hint of red. Thin head that disappears almost immediately. Sharp fruity nose. Much lighter body than I’d hoped for. Slight tartness with a touch of pineapple and some Belgian yeast funk. Strange macro lager finish.
