5000 (2409), Hardened Liver, Washington, USA Feb 18, 2006 Draught @ Brouwer’s Café: Deep caramel, ruby highlights, moderate beige head, fairly decent lacing.   Soft dark pitted fruit on the nose, raisiny, a bit musty, bready, the wheat aspect seems secondary.   Flavor is rich and malty, notes of dark pitted fruit with a heavy breadiness.   A bit of a fruity resiny twang near the end.   Body and mouthfeel are moderate.   Finishes more like a Bock than a Weizen in that it is so rich and malty.   Fairly good stuff.
porterdude (170), Bellingham, Washington, USA Dec 9, 2005 On tap. Poured a rather muddy and murky brown color, almost black. A rather fruity aroma, with a bit of bready notes and some alcohol. The flavor is a bit chocolate and some wheat beer character. There was some distinct alcohol flavor in my beer, the orange zest came through in the finish. JoeMcPhee (4893), Jackson Heights, New York, USA Nov 23, 2005 On tap at the Latona Pub. Dark black cloudy beer. Nice fruity aroma, blackberry, dark malts, biscuity, toasty aroma with prominent wheaty spiciness. Flavour is great, sweet toasty malts, yeasty/wheaty spiciness, apple/orange fruitiness (no banana or clove). Full-bodied, rich-tasting. Lingering chocolatey toasted wheat flavour before a kiss of palate-cleansing noble hops. Oakes (8058), gone rambling, Vietnam Nov 22, 2005 On tap at the Latona Slightly murky nut brown. Chocolatey aroma with faint hints of coffee and alcohol. Mocha, spice and wheat show in the body, which is fairly light. Clean and lively, like a schwarzbier. Malty accent, mildly sweet but silky. Not sure about the wheat aspect, but it’s a distinctive brew. IndianaRed (1553), Boise, Idaho, USA Nov 21, 2005 On Tap at Scuttlebutt
Ckoudy very dark brown with a small off white head. Very nice sheeting lacing. Lots of sweet cocolate maly aroma with caramel and apple cider in there somewhere. Flavors are similar with a nice slightly woody malt flavor as well. Easy on the hops and a smooth and slightly thin feel.
