tiggmtl (4181), Vancouver, British Columbia, Canada Mar 29, 2008 Very dry and wine-like nose has some apples and floral honey. Clear and still deep golden coloured body. Very dry and quite tart in flavour although I would not say it is sour. Certainly quite wine-like although it does at times verge on puckering. Some woody character in the aftertaste. Wine glass. Just above fridge temperature. Bottle (Brewery Creek, Dec-07).
Oakes (6853), Miami Beach, Florida, USA Oct 7, 2007 Brewery Creek Light yellow/straw colour. Still. Appley nose with slight apricot and mellow floral honey notes. Very dry...puckering apple flavour with light tannin. Clean tartness is almost lactic, though certainly not as complex as I’m used to in beers this sour. Obviously they achieved their objective, but I’m not sold on this as a standalone drink. It gets more enjoyable as it warms but IMO it needs some sort of bloomy rind or chevre to provide a foil for the acidic assault. Not unlike Tantalus Old Vine Reisling, this is clearly meant to accompany food, so a bit of a tactical error on my part taking it on its own. CapFlu (3292), Victoria, British Columbia, Canada Oct 2, 2007 (750ml bottle) Purchased at the cidery for $17. Pours a clear light yellow hued body. Nose of dry white wine and sour grape. Flavour is unbearably sour, dry and... well, more cider. I cannot imagine that they wanted it to turn out like this, its near vinegar? Very little note of the yeast or any other flavours for that matter. Disappointing.
