Sea Cider Rumrunner (2006 - Newfoundland Screech Rum)

Bottle (750ml) shared with the gang at the annual ’Bazinet BBQ’ -- courtesy of jerc. Pours a clear gold with a small white head. Nice aroma of apples, wood, white pepper, other spices and rum. Sweet flavour follows the aroma but has a little more alcohol then I would like, still nice though. Medium bodied. Pretty good stuff.

2008-08-02. Crisp golden yellow body. (3+) Sweet tart aroma, apples, touch of wood notes? Sweet flavour in the middle, light boozey touches hints at something more complex like a cognac or an apple liquer. (After the fact observation - apparently its aged in rum barrels, so that must have been it.) (7+) Smooth average to medium palate. Pretty good, may have actually lost a point or two for sake of following a lovely glass of St. Bernardus 12. Bottle via trade with mgermani

"Romeo Uniform Mike?" - Garthicus

Courtesy TheCheeseman. Pours a clear golden color with no head. The aroma shows notes of fresh red apples and green sour apples to go with dark rum and brown sugar. The flavor shows a good balance between the red and green apples and the rum soaked fruit. Caramel, vanilla, and spices add depth and even more flavor. Medium bodied and slightly sticky mouthfeel that is smooth and easy to drink. The rum seems to add sweetness and calm the acidity at the same time. This is one awesome cider and really glad I got to try it.

Courtesy TheCheeseMan. Pours a rich looking, medium golden color. Microscopic carbonation pools into a fine, lightly fizzy edge. Thick legging gives indication of the substantial body. Aromas include really fresh, crisp red and green apples, with a well integrated hint of dark spiced rum, Appleton Estate in particular. Likewise, flavors show a good balance between tart green and sweet red apples, with the caramel and dark spice of the rum bringing both elements together nicely. The medium-full, slick body shows none of the stickyness that I expected, nor does the rum impose any unwanted alcoholic heat. This one is a winner.

Pours a rich and warming deep amber color. The aroma is full on sweet apples, brown sugar, vanilla, rum and even some sweet pie spices. Flavor is awesome!!! The rum plays perfectly against the sweet apples. Absolutely wonderful.

Bottle @ ORL throwdown, courtesy of TheCheeseMan. Wow! This is one knockout cider! Pours light golden, headless. Caramel apples, apple peels, rum, dark sugar in the nose. On the tongue, sweet apples, tart, a little spicy, touch of vanilla, brown sugar! The acidity is nice, drying finish. This is just fantastic.

Bottle… SMAACMSM O-Town Throwdown, Part Sept… Clear and barely straw-colored with curved, weeping legs. The aroma is mainly sweet, sweet apple… a marriage of both green and red varieties. Also, just a whisper of acidity. Medium-bodied with a lightly syrupy mouthfeel and only an insinuation of carbonation. Moderate to medium sweetness with a hint of white rum and a rumor of wood. Finishes acidic and then dry. Big-time thanks to TheCheeseMan for bringing this bottle along to share!

22oz bottle of pure awesomeness from Cheeseman at the Solan’s Mom Throwdown. Pours the color of apple juice with no real head . Nose is full on spiced apples and just a touch of rum. Taste is very full on the palate which I found a little suprising. The apple and spice are front and center here but the alcohol in the form of run hits strong towards the end. In the middle notes of cardamom and brown sugar and a hint of vanilla from the aging. The best cider I’ve ever had by a mile.
