Sea Dog Apricot Wheat Beer

Certainly not a super apricot beer, but I have had worse. The apricot smell and flavor is pretty nice but the underlying wheat beer is less than desirable. It is a nice golden yellow color and pours a smallish white head. Watery mouthfeel is a big downer on this beer.

[Bottle, thanks JK] Really, 14 percentile? Pours golden with a small white head. Aroma is very unique and unlike anything I’ve encountered before. It was suggested that it smells like the candy peach rings...and actually that is really similar to what this was like. The taste is also very similar to peach rings. Fairly thin mouthfeel. Yeah the fruit is pretty clearly artificial, and it isn’t complex, but it is certainly drinkable and by no means objectionable. I think this is a little underrated.

A bottle from JK. Yellow color with a very strong apricot aroma. Faint wheat/grain in the body, but had a good apricot flavor.

Thanks to JK. Yellow color with no head. Mostly apricot on the aroma. Apricots, peaches and maybe a little pear flavor. Light wheat. Thin body.

Found at Trader Joe’s as Kennebunkport. Good value if not the best Apricot Wheat. I’ll buy again because I like the value and flavor was pretty good.

This one was better than the blueberry beer. Smelled nice, still a little too much like a pilsner. Little more flavor, clear golden color.

Pale straw colored with a thin white head that quickly diminishes. Aroma of apricot and toasted malt. Sweet flavor of artificial apricot flavoring. A bit of wheat character, no hops to speak of. Body is actually more substantial than your average fruit/wheat beer, and at least it isn’t carbonated to hell like a lot of them. This could benefit from less sweetness.

Nice apricot aroma on this light colored brew. Sweet and thin with notable fizziness. Refreshing but not the best wheat beer.
