Sea Dog Blue Paw Wild Blueberry Wheat Ale

This is a pretty good summer beer. Not the best blueberry beer on the market, but it is pretty decent and is available all over the place. My favorite was to drink this beer is to pour it into a glass and add a handful of blueberries to the beer. The berries float up and down in the glass as you drink, and at the end of the beer you have a nice treat. This beer has the inicial taste of a wheat beer, but has a distinct hint of blueberry. My only complaint about this beer is that it can get a little sweet sometimes and the taste of blueberry is a little strong and artificial compared to some other blueberry beers.

Aroma is mellow and sweet blueberry with some grainy breadiness. Flavor has some decent blueberry hints but is overshadowed by graininess and some acidity. Mouthfeel is thin and dry with sharp carbonation. This really isnt bad but Ive had better blueberry beers from that state.

Bottle. Yellowish, slightly cloudy color. Slight hint of blueberries amidst a grassy, slightly skunky aroma. Sweet taste of blueberries with a little sour grassy hops flavor. Almost no carbonation. Not terrible, but it tasted more like a bad dessert than a good beer.

On tap at Hooters North Station before a Bruins game. Blueberry is my all time favorite fruit beer and I liked Sea Dog Blueberry. I prefer Wachusett Blueberry, their blueberry flavor is more subtle, Sea Dog was a tad too much.

pours pale yellow, smells great...like blueberries, but taste not as good. its still refreshing but could get old quick, plus i think sweetwater blue is a bit better....i think i’ll go pour some on my pancakes now

Clear golden color with a short lived white head. Nice blueberry aroma but with a sligthly unpleasant undercurrent that I can not identify. Flavor is refreshing blueberries with a nice wheat taste. Not my favorite style, but enjoyable once I got past the aroma.

Very good blueberry aroma. Low carbonation. Light malt in the flavor, and some honey as well. Reminds me of Town Hall Thunderstorm. Well balanced.

This has been my favorite beer ever since my Dad bought me a bottle for Christmas. I was one of those people who thought that fruit-based beer just wasn’t for them, mainly because all the ones I’d tried previously had only a hint of the fruit they purportedly contained. This nectar of the gods is bursting with heavenly Blueberry flavor! Finally, the full-bodied taste and aroma I’d been searching for in a fruit beer! I can’t stock my fridge fast enough. It can be found at Trader Joe’s stores here in CA.
