Sea Dog Blue Paw Wild Blueberry Wheat Ale

From a 12 oz. twist cap long neck bottle with a best before date along the left side of label, March 2007. Poured a clear yellowish golden with a foamy white head. Aromas of fresh blueberries, very pronounced, fruity esters and a bit nutty. Good carbonation and a crisp, smooth medium bodied mouthfeel. Fruity taste, esters, then blueberry, a balanced blueberry, not fake tasting, a powdery yeastiness, sweet malty, a very light hoppiness and a dryish subtle blueberry and malty finish. For me, this is the best of Sea Dog’s fruit beers, a nice change of pace beer.

picked this up at trader joes. poured a clear gold with definite blueberry aroma and flavor. a nice refreshing beer and very simple other than the blueberry.

bottle, too sweet, nice smell, too fizzy. i was not a huge fan of this brew.

Upon opening my senses were blasted with fresh blueberry muffins/ pankakes.

Clear golden with a small short lived head.

Flavor was blueberry muffin, fruit loop cereal with beer in it instead of milk. weird.

Wheat was barely perceptible.
The more it warmed the more it took on a syrupy quality.
Subtle it was not, it was like drinking warm blueberry muffins, or pankakes at ihop.

Aroma struck me from afar of blueberries. But as I got closer too the beer it was less prominent. Weird. 3d blueberries. In the aroma, in the palate, in the air all around. Decent head with decent lacing, a refreshing beer.

Pours golden w/ a shallow spritzy froth. Aroma has a well defined blue berry forward w/ a little tart thang goin’ on. Light nectar w/ ample residul effers. Flavors are lacking true soul. It’s light and crispy clean dressed in a blueberry tart. The finish is where its at. You get big cereal flavors w/ big yet thin BOO BERRY. This brew has no mid palate. Sports the killer hampagne streamers though.

First of all if you dont like blueberrys do not drink this beer. The taste is a wonderful blueberry pankcake taste. best fruit beer ever.

wierd beer, too sweet for me but some might like this. (e.g. chicks) a sweet fruit beer.
