Hefes aren’t my favorite style, but this was one of the tastiest I’ve ever tried. It was full of flavor - very complex and ’wholesome.’ It even had a real nice fruity flavor (although, I don’t know which kind of fruit it exemplified). It may be seasonal - I couldn’t find it bottled either (tried it on tap in Bangor).

Slightly hazy golden coloured body with a very thin white head. Aroma of yeast, wheat and citrus - not half bad at all. Medium-bodied; Effervescent feeling up front with some yeast and wheat most noticeable. Curacao and some light fresh flavours up front, fading to a mild malt. Aftertaste shows some sweetness, but mostly mild, run of the mill flavours. Overall, a decent wheat, nothing too special, but worth trying. I sampled this 12 ounce bottle purchased at Trader Joe’s in Tyson’s Corner (Falls Church), Virginia on 04-November-2007.

Medium gold, mostly clear, good head and lacing. This has a lot of lemon tang and yeastyness to it. I thought that this was just an average wheat, but it did have a nice pepper spice at the finish.

Deep gold, mostly clear. Nose vaguely wheaty and honey-sweet, no real hefe character. Flavor is sweet and malty, mild yeastiness. Finish has some harshness, not that pleasant. Eh.

Like Mikeben’s rating, my bottle also just says Wheat Beer on it but it’s not a hefeweizen - more like a hybrid brew that’s part american wheat beer. Pours a clear golden, like a pilsner, not cloudy like I was expecting. Doesn’t have any of the hefe characteristics like banana or clove.Aroma is lightly malty - not much there. Taste is nice and malty with a good dose of hops, citrus and grain. Good sweetness, not much bitterness at all. Mouthfeel is full, round and very nice on the palate. Overall, nice taste and texture.

Color is a deep golden-yellow with a few hues of brassy orange. Head is bone white and medium thick.Smells of banana, wheat malt, clove, German hops, and a somewhat rough skunkiness. Taste is bright and fresh with banana, clove, other sweet fruit and citrus flavors. Delicious wheat and banana flavor. I am very impressed with Sea Dog, given my past 3 tastings.

Slight honey in the nose, lemony taste, crisp light finish. Not much going on here.

What’s with the high ratings on this one, did I miss something? Suspiciously clear for a hefeweizen; golden orange, medium white head. Aroma of mildew and wheat, honey. More of the same in the flavor, thin-med body, wheat comes out in the finish. Not offensive, just lacking in the wheat; more of an ale/ American wheat mix, not a hefeweizen.
