Bottle. Pours a spectacular orange with a nice head and clinging lace. Aroma is dull orange-skunk. Flavor is a thick red wine. Mouthfeel is full, but this adds nothing to a beer that is a wheat beer in name only.

Rating for "Sea Dog Wheat Beer"

Pours as clear and golden and lightly effervescent as an MGD... and with a fluffy white head to boot. Aroma is moderately nose-wrinkling & stomach-churning, finding diacetyl-laden and overly-sweet butterscotch, toffee and caramel corn. With flavors of soured milk over wheat & crunchberries, this is a breakfast gone foul. Uneventful mouthfeel leads to a sweet & sour finish with a slight herbal bitterness.

From Trader Joe’s, label just says "Sea Dog Wheat Beer." Dated "best before May ’07," but this has a bit of skunk when opened. brownish wheat color, fluffy head that dwindles away in a hurry.Taste is a bit like a wheat, just a sting of basic German hop, interefered with by the remaining skunk notes. Forced carbonation gives a too fizzy mouthfeel.

Pours a medium yello with a small white head. Faint aroma of wheat and malt. Taste is faint wheat with metallic and soap. Not much to look at and not very fun to drink either.

Pour is a clear yellow with a fizzy white head. Aroma is not much. Some citrus with a bit of malt. Flavor is bland and not much to speak of. Some citrus again but nothing really else. Pass this one by.

picked this up at trader joes. slightly hazy yellow with hardly any aroma, maybe some lemon. taste was very light with some citrus. nothing to not like but on the same not, nothing to really like either. maybe a good lawnmower beer.

From a 12 oz. twist cap brown bottle with a freshness date along the left side of label. Poured a clear reddish golden with a foamy, fluffy white head that settled into a thin lacing, small amount of ringed sticking. Aromas of sweet wheat malts and light earthy spiciness. Good carbonation and a softly crisp, smooth light bodied mouthfeel. Pleasant, but average tasting, sweet wheat malty with a touch of grain, a light fruitiness with hidden touches of banana, a slightly earthy spiciness that doesn’t get in the way of the malts, and a dry grainy and wheaty finish. Decent, affordable drinkability, purchased at Trader Joe’s.

Like most beers of the style there is little to enjoy, but this is better than many others. It is sort of a Leinenkugel’s Honey Weiss with a heavier body. Gold, and a little sweet. Not much else to say. Purchased at Trader Joe’s, St. Louis Park, MN.
