| 3.4 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 3/5 | 7/10 | 4/5 | 14/20 | Jun 21, 2004 Updated: Jun 26, 20042004 draft @ Periwinkles in Essex. Pours a rusty brown, mostly clear, with some copper and earthy yellow tinges to it. Some light oranges in there as well. Small beige head. Smells musty, lightly sour, somewhat bitter from hops and a hint of molasses and light brown sugar. Flavor is a mix of malt (brown sugar, light caramel) and American alpha hops (lightly bitter floral hops). Quite fresh tasting and pretty good overall, but complexity dosent quite approach the Smuttynose old brown dog, IMHO. Little fruit flavor, somewhat drowned out by hops and sweet malt, of which there is quite a bit. walrus (13), USA

Somewhat watery and mild, and as forgettable as a trip to Camden, Maine.
