Pours brown with a generous creamy light brown head that lasted a while. Smells of cookies, coffee and dough with nutty, fruity undertones. Tastes slightly of cherries with a buttery finish. Very nice.

I really enjoyed this beer. It has a lot of flavor to it. Relatively thin head, very little lacing. Orangey-yellow color. I tried it on tap.

2004 draft @ Periwinkles in Essex. Pours a rusty brown, mostly clear, with some copper and earthy yellow tinges to it. Some light oranges in there as well. Small beige head. Smells musty, lightly sour, somewhat bitter from hops and a hint of molasses and light brown sugar. Flavor is a mix of malt (brown sugar, light caramel) and American alpha hops (lightly bitter floral hops). Quite fresh tasting and pretty good overall, but complexity dosent quite approach the Smuttynose old brown dog, IMHO. Little fruit flavor, somewhat drowned out by hops and sweet malt, of which there is quite a bit.

Very well balanced, not as user friendly (sweet) as some browns, especially in draft form ... but seamless.

Nutty, light caramel nose. Small tan head. Golden brown hue. Faintly sweet, light caramel, thin body, faintly sweet, hops are there way in the background. Im not too impressed. Another run-of-the-mill brewski.

Sea Dog Brewing is not known for challenging you with its beers, and this Gollywobbler Brown continues that tradition with mild nuttiness in the vein of a Newcastle Brown Ale clone. Somewhat watery and mild, and as forgettable as a trip to Camden, Maine.
