Pale roasted malt and soft cocoa on the nose.   Seems a bit unsweetened, kind of like bakers chocolate.   Hop presense is low
to non-existant.   Milky bittersweet chocolate start, slightly roasty, slight lactic sourness.   Fairly thin on the mouthfeel,
moderate body.   Finish is somewhat chalky with a little bit of ash and hazelnut mixed in.   Overall a light example, no hop bite,
some roasted malts, sweet milk sugar, lactic sourness, hazelnut, and bakers chocolate.   Not bad, but not terribly interesting.
Wished that it was a bit more robust/full bodied.

Sweet maltiness and roasted nuts on the nose. Creamy and rich, with a pronounced hazelnut flavor melting into notes of cocoa and cream. Warms nicely. Pleasantly surprised with this one. | 2.9 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 5/10 | 3/5 | 6/10 | 3/5 | 12/20 | Apr 15, 2007 Dark brown with a small tan head. Aroma of hazelnuts, vanilla and roasted malt. More of the same in the flavor. Too much hazelnut for me. Otherwise, pretty good. Skyview (4090), Papoose Jct., Minnesota, USA

Aroma is of coffee, hazelnuts and vanilla. Taste of nutty chocolate, green apples and roasted barley malt. A dry finish with a little alcohol kick. Interesting. JK (2967), Richfield, Minnesota, USA

More vanilla in the flavor, and they weren’t lying about the hazelnuts because these are here in strength. A good beer. badgerben (3605), Blaine, Minnesota, USA
| 3.4 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 3/5 | 7/10 | 3/5 | 14/20 | Mar 31, 2007 Dark brown color with no head. Holy crap this smells like a bucket of hazelnuts! Big vanilla taste with more piles of hazelnuts. Dry finish. A little overkill on the nuts for my tastes, but not too shabby. BDR (2169), Roseville, Minnesota, USA

On the nose it smells like fresh brewed coffee and Nutella.Very good flavor with the roasted nuts being the most dominant.Coffee and choclate show up right after words.Nice body and it finishes like coffe does, slightly bitter. This would have to be my favorite out of all SeaDog and Shipyard brews.
