May 14, 2003 A full-bodied brew with the burn of alcohol lingering faintly in the background. Not overly impressive and the labels for Sea Dog beers need some spicing up, unlike the beer which seems a tad spicy already.

Jan 1, 2003 Hmmm... Decent. Alcohol is the most prominent flavor, followed by a bit of malty caramel and very light hoppiness. Fairly effervescent, but enough flavor and body to carry through. Full bodied, with a good complexity and a warm tummy feeling. My idea of a winter beer. I like it.

Nov 21, 2002 Dark gold body with amber undertones, topped by a medium thick head with good lace. Sweet malty aroma with fruity notes and a sweet malty flavor with a strong hoppy finish. Medium to heavy bodied with a dry finish.

Nov 20, 2002 Deep garnett brown hue. Caramel/toffeeish nose. Off white head. Sweet, graham cracker, caramel, medium bodied, lightly hopped, dry finish. Drinkable, but not spectacular.

May 31, 2002 Deep garnet in color, beige head and nice lace. Nose is caramel, malt, and slightly floral. Front is sweet, the top light, the finish is hop spicy, acidic, dry and a very decent drinking beer.

Mar 26, 2002 I believe I caught a hint of nutmeg in the brew. Nice redish amber color and a sweet and spicey malty nose.

Mar 21, 2002 Clear copper. Thin off white head. Light carbonation. Butterscotch yeasty aroma, caramel malts and light toasted sugar cookies. Whoo. Mellow body, loaded with very light toasted and caramel malts, fruity yeast and earthy hops. Strong toffee notes as you hold it in your mouth. Light fuzzy alcohol. Warming. Gets buttery as it sits but not that trademark yeastiness, just a warm accompaniment. Finishes with a light burnt caramel/alcohol mix. Very nice seasonal.

RE-RATE: Ok, I know this brewery has closed and re-opened and what not in the past couple years. The bottle I have only says "Winter Ale" on it. Nothing about Stock, but I assume it's the same thing. Malty caramel aroma with a yeastly belgian-type nose. Pour is a dark copper/amber with a very nice yellow head that turns off-white. Lots of malt kick in the middle. Finish is quite sweet and sugary with some mild smoked bitterness in the very finish. This is actually quite good.
Original Rate = 7/4/6/4/12. Not much in the way for comments--was still a RB newbie.
