You know you’re at a fun festival when one of the lighter offerings is a 9.8% barleywine. It poured a light caramel color with a pale yellow-brown head. The nose was sweet toffee, soft nuts, a bit of alcohol, and an understated Bourbon presence. These blend together smoothly in the flavor, merging with sweet apples and a touch of smoke. Very drinkable and a pleasant surprise.
