SamGamgee (1395), Santa Cruz (La Selva), California, USA Oct 13, 2009 Draught at the brewpub. Light copper with a medium sized sticky head. Spicy resinous hop aroma with some light orange and apricot and some caramelly malt as well. The flavor is on the dry side with a strong bitterness that is accentuated by a sharp alcohol presence that is just barely kept in check by mild malt sweetness. The hops again seem more resinous and spicy with some fruitier grapefruit flavor in there as well. The body is medium and honestly a little lighter than you would expect, but it makes for a pretty drinkable double for those that enjoy a firm hop bitterness. Overall, this got much nicer as it warmed and the aroma and malt showed some more character, with a nice fresh hoppiness in the nose. A nice double IPA, and definitely one of the better beers that I have had from seabright so far beerguy101 (3861), Newark, California, USA Apr 30, 2008 Tasted on tap at the 2008 Bistro 2xIPA Fest. This IPA pours a medium orange gold color from the tap. Small sized white foamy head. The aroma is piney and citrusy hops. A medium bodied Imperial IPA. The malts are caramel and sweet. The hops are grapefruit and piney. Decent balance between the hops and malts. Mouthfeel is full. Finish is clean and smooth. Aftertaste is slightly bitter. ratman197 (3137), Arvada, Colorado, USA Feb 15, 2008 On tap @ Bistro 8th Annual DIPA Fest poured a cloudy copper with a small lasting amber head. The beer poured a hazed copper color with a white head. The aroma was full of citrus orange hops and to a lesser extent pine. Malty base did show through. Pine flavor with a malt middle and a long bitterness on the finish. Medium bodied. IrishBoy (2685), Bakersfield, California, USA Feb 9, 2008 Draft at the Bistro’s 8th DIPA Fest; Nose of caramel and very light amount of hops; hazy amber with a very small off-white head; flavor of hop bitterness and caramel. I liked the Sacrilitious better even thou it had 2% less ABV.
