Commercial Description:
We created a whole new animal in this beer. We used chocolate wheat, malted rye and a mixture of American and French hops. To add to the mix, we took a Bavarian lager yeast and fermented it out at ale temperatures. This uniquely mixed dark "steam" style beer has a nice roasted flavor with a light body.

Draught at the brewpub. Pours black with a small off-white head. Aroma is heavily roasted malt. Flavor is similar, with a bit of chalkiness. Basically a really roasty schwarzbier (despite the name, which might make you think of a dunkelweizen). It’s alright.
