20060922 Bottle shared by Frumptylicious at Dickinsonbeer’s O-Fest. Here’s another brewery I’d never even heard of before having a chance to sample their beer. Good stuff with a decent balance of roast and sweet flavors and aromas. Somewhat thin and hints of DMS but overall drinkable and nice.

(Sampler at the brewpub) Pours solid black with no real head. The aroma is of dark black malt and perhaps licorice. It’s thick and pretty smooth. The bitterness in the flavor approaches mocha. Great stuff.

Pours a dark black/brown with brown/tan head. Initial flavors of brandy, malts, chocolate, coffee and coal. Not bad, but very intense for an oatmeal stout. Not very creamy or fruity like other "sweet" stouts. Recommended with reservations.

Thanks to Ryan for bringing this to my oktoberfest party. Similar to the devout stout, but has a bit more body, sweeter, and fuller mouthfeel. Nice orasted barley character, some chocolate, and a dry almond-like finish. Pretty smooth and has a slight slick sweetness in the end.

bottle from FrumptyDumpty at Dickinsonbeer’s Oktoberfest. blackish brown body, ruby brown edges. light goes through. aroma is roasted malt, a little bit like brazil nuts. flavor is a little bit water but nice roasted malt, a little dry. drier finish. thanks Ryan, I’ve had this years ago at the brewpub but never got to rate it until now!

GABF 2006: Cear dark brown color with a beige head. Sweet coffee notes with a nice smooth roast make up the aroma. Matching coffe and roasted malt flavor. Not bad. Light to medium bodied

Pour is cola like, brownish black with no head...roasty chocolate aroma...lost a lot of the chocolate flavor between the nose and mouth...slightly sweet and roasty but no real coffee flavor either...thin bodied...

Very smooth and silky, also very sweet. Good burnt/coffee flavors and aroma. Decent.
