Papsoe (14613), Frederiksberg, Denmark Jul 28, 2009 On tap. Clear deep golden with a creamy off-white head. Sweetish malty nose. Medium body, sweet malts and a light smoky accents that feels suspicious in an APA. Dry, hoppy finish. 090709 yespr (11613), Copenhagen O, Denmark Jul 24, 2009 From tap at the brewpub. Pours clear and golden orange with a small white head. Aroma is mild orange fruity hoppy and light malty toffeeish/butterish note. Flavour is the same with a good sweetness and light bitterness coming through into a medium dry finish. badlizard (2324), Berkeley, California, USA Apr 3, 2009 On tap at brewery. Golden amber with a fizzy white head. Aroma of sweet malt and mild citrus. Bready citrus taste with a slightly tangy finish. ryanknock (150), San Francisco, California, USA Jan 14, 2009 Light and crisp, with toasty highlights and hop depth, including piney and citrus overtones. Excellent session beer that has a distinct west coast profile without the "bigness" (aka, alcohol content).
SamGamgee (1396), Santa Cruz (La Selva), California, USA Aug 3, 2008 Draught at the brewpub. Dark gold-light amber with lasting foam. Pretty light aroma, with subtle yet distinct hops that you would expect in a west coast pale ale. The flavor has a pleasant toasty maltiness, balanced by nice hop flavor that is a little grapefruit peel and a little herbal pine. Medium bodied with smooth carbonation. Quite drinkable, pretty tasty, pretty average, but good balance. Not exactly adventurous, but you couldn’t go wrong with it. illidurit (851), Santa Cruz, California, USA Mar 29, 2008 On tap at the brewpub. 6 oz. sampler. Honey/straw color, sticky white head leaves ample lacing. Aroma is lightly malty with prominent floral hoppiness. Taste is also hop-centric, with a piny bitterness and a modest pale malt profile for balance. Typical medium-thin body and high carbonation, easy to drink. yesyouam (587), Fairport, New York, USA May 17, 2007 (Sampler at the brewpub) Pelican Pale has a a pale straw color with a very thin white head. The aroma is bright and flowery and of pale malt. The body borders on medium light. It’s supple and dusty. The flavor is of fresh citrus (grapefruit) and pine. Yes! It tastes like California! AleDrinker (1090), Sunnyvale, California, USA Oct 7, 2006 Pale ale here with very earthy aroma and taste. Light bodied, easy drinking. Not bad.
