On tap. Clear deep golden with a creamy off-white head. Sweetish malty nose. Medium body, sweet malts and a light smoky accents that feels suspicious in an APA. Dry, hoppy finish. 090709

From tap at the brewpub. Pours clear and golden orange with a small white head. Aroma is mild orange fruity hoppy and light malty toffeeish/butterish note. Flavour is the same with a good sweetness and light bitterness coming through into a medium dry finish.

Tap @ brewpub. A clear golden color with a laced white head. A malty flavor for such a light beer. Dry and floral.

Draught at the brewpub. Dark gold-light amber with lasting foam. Pretty light aroma, with subtle yet distinct hops that you would expect in a west coast pale ale. The flavor has a pleasant toasty maltiness, balanced by nice hop flavor that is a little grapefruit peel and a little herbal pine. Medium bodied with smooth carbonation. Quite drinkable, pretty tasty, pretty average, but good balance. Not exactly adventurous, but you couldn’t go wrong with it.

The Pelican is a fine APA on its own. For me it served as a palate cleanser between the Cocoa Brown and the Blur. Typical West Coast style APA. Pelican went very well with Seabright’s Buffalo wings.
