Commercial Description:
This beer is a traditional filtered Pacific Northwest India Pale Ale. Although golden in color, this is not a light beer. With more than 60 bitterness units it’s got a bite to it, but is well balanced by the sweetness of a 7.4% alcohol by volume brew. This a is a very aggressive tasting beer.

Aroma is fruit and citrus but not over powering. Pours a hazy light orange color. Fruity flavor with a little bit of a sour hop finish. Not as heavy as one would expect from an IPA.

(Sampler at brewpub) Blur IPA pours bright gold with a fluffy white head. It’s a light color for an IPA. It has a complex and medicinal aroma. The body is medium and smooth. The flavor is dominated by grapefruit peel, but it’s not overly bitter. Not quite what I’d think of when I think of an IPA, but no faults to speak of. I like it.

Hazy light orange pour with deep yellow hues. Billowing medium sized creamy white head, looks cool. Aroma is mild, clean and crisply acidic/astringent. Cereal malts, along with soapy malts and earthy notions of citric hops slowly emerge. Orange and melon begin to dominate the nose after multiple whiffs and substantial warming. No evidence of alcohol. Odd overall. Flavor is heavy cereal malts. What seems like mismanaged attenuation and bittering; too much unpleasant bitterness. Could use some creaminess, perhaps an addition of rye would liven up things or simply improve the flavor quality. Sweetness creeps through in a finish that is best described as awkward and too slow to arrive. Reminds of a hoppy, stale biere de garde. Palate is moderately carbonated, light-medium in body.

Courtesy aspidites and stoutlover 72. Hazy orange and 2cm of frothy white head. Crisp nose of fresh, floral, bitter hops and grainy malt. Similar flavor adds some resin, sharp brew. Medium body, just more carbonated than balanced. Could drink a ton of this one. Solid IPA.

Bottle from a liquor store in Salinas. Pours a medium golden color with orange outlines. Alot of sediment floating about. Aroma is citric and hoppy. Alot of graoefruit. Very bitter citric hoppiness up front. Almost purely bitter with little balance. Maybe a touch of sweetness.

GABF 06. Light hazy amber. Aroma is lightly hoppy. Taste is malty and sweet with slightly more than a balanced hop bitterness, but not as assertive as I like IPA’s, especially for a double.

Soft and refreshing floral hop aroma. Light amber in color with a flufy white head. Pleasant tanginess in the flavor, sweet maltiness, very balanced bitterness, but not overwhelming. Full bodied and nice and creamy. I think this in not too bad at all. Thanks TEVER.

Bottle thanks to tever: Pours a clear golden bronze with a thin, wispy-lacing white head. Aroma has a lavender, grapefruit hop presence and some sweet caramel malt, but it is all pretty mild. Starts with a good caramel malty sweetness infused with a nice amount of carbonation and fullness of palate toward a bittersweet finish. Not as hoppy as I’d expect with an IPA, but would make a nice APA.
