Fruit syrup nose of plum, black cherry and mostly raspberries, with only a light porter presence. Flavor is more of this syrupy fruit flavoring, moderately thick, very lightly tart and punchy - overall very tasty and easy to drink, but not a runaway winner. Too syrupy, artificial tasting, floral, etc, with minimal porter character. kramer (2465), Sunbury, Pennsylvania, USA
| 3.7 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 4/5 | 7/10 | 3/5 | 16/20 | May 7, 2007 Draft pint at the brewpub. Pours a very dark brown body under a foamy tight bubbled light brown head with great retention. Aroma is fairly light, very reminescent of chocolate covered raspberries with a little bit of roastiness as well. Flavor is really well balanced between the Porter and the raspberry. Rich dark chocolate covered raspberries front to back, finishing with a nice roasty lightly bitter finish. Mouthfeel is similar to the regular Porter, though it seems a tad more fizzy than I usually expect from here. This was a nice, not over the top, fruited Porter. Walking the line between sweet and bitter, the chocolate and raspberry really played well together.
