Maybe previous years batches werent as good as this one, but I thought this new one was world class. Pours a light hazy medium orange with a nice long lasting head and great lace. Aroma is of a typical well made mai-bock- lots of sharp bready malts with some light caramel sweetness, and a touch of herbal continental hops. Flavor is full of bready pils malts, lightly yeast, but otherwise clean with a nice sharp hop bitterness in the end. Very smooth mouthfeel and a great aftertaste. Ranks up there with Ramstein, but perhaps this one has a bit more body. Eyedrinkale (3209), Astoria, New York, USA

| 3 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 3/5 | 6/10 | 2/5 | 13/20 | Oct 30, 2005 It took me two years but I finally got my hands on this. Now if I can only rate the saison I’ll finally have an entire brewery’s line-up under my belt. Har har HAR. Anyways, this was a tad disappointing. The hops had a grassy note, and the malts had a bit of a sour tinge. There was an alcohol note, the texture was kind of watery, and the malt wasn’t sweet enough. Come to think of it, I’m not overfond of their doppel either. Perhaps it’s a just bock thing with SG. But this wasn’t so hot. Nejhleader (930), Lemoyne, Pennsylvania, USA

Sampled on draft at the State College beer festival this beer poured a pale golden color with a medium sized white head. The aroma is sweet malts and sour honey. The flavor is thick sour malts and light caramel with a sour tangy finish. MaiBockAddict (1499), Good Beer Bar Deprived, New Jersey, USA
