Commercial Description:
This straw colored lager is brewed in the tradition of the German Mai or Helles bock, although our version is a bit stronger. This genuine lager has a delicate candy like aroma. It's huge grain bill of pale German malts are well balanced with the use of domestic Vanguard and Hallertuer Hops.

On tap fresh at the brewpub. Maybe previous years batches werent as good as this one, but I thought this new one was world class. Pours a light hazy medium orange with a nice long lasting head and great lace. Aroma is of a typical well made mai-bock- lots of sharp bready malts with some light caramel sweetness, and a touch of herbal continental hops. Flavor is full of bready pils malts, lightly yeast, but otherwise clean with a nice sharp hop bitterness in the end. Very smooth mouthfeel and a great aftertaste. Ranks up there with Ramstein, but perhaps this one has a bit more body.

Growler thanks to Dickinsonbeer. Hazy amber/orange color with a medium sized white head. Biscuity, malty aroma with just a hint of hops. Malty flavor with some caramel and a nice bitter hop finish.

On tap at brewpub. Pours a dark gold with a slight haze under a firm and creamy 1 cm white head. Nice sweet malty aroma with some caramel, light alcohol, and bread dough. Flavor is pretty clean with thick caramel malts. Finish was warming, with a light hoppiness. Mouthfeel is thick with minimal soft carbonation yielding a slightly creamy texture. Overal, pretty decent.

Draft at brewpub. Poured a cloudy golden in color with a nice medium sized frothy white head with great lacing. Aroma is sweet, bready, with a nice hop presence. Tastes of sweet caramel, candi sugar, moderate spices, bready with a great body and mouth feel. Hops very present in the finish. Nice.

On tap at the Selins Grove Brew fest. Aroma is malt in a vanilla sugar type way, just asolutely massive. The flavor is as intensly malty as a good ipa is hoppy, punches you in the face with toffee, bread, and slightly nutty flavors. medium bodied. pretty good.

Pint at Selins Grove. Honey orange colored body with a small, white head. Huge, deep, syrupy nose of sweetened corn, dried leaves, wood, dried vegetables, peppery honey and a touch of that 7.7% alcohol. Thick, chewy and syrupy in the mouth, peppery, spicy and sharp throughout, full body, without a doubt fuller and heavier than it ever needs to be, but it actually tastes very fresh, meaty and fruity, with a sharp orange/caramel malt note throughout.

Tap at the brewpub. Hazy golden, thin white head. Malty alcohol aroma. malty pale malt flavors. Decent bitterness. Alcohol is just a bit strong being the only drawback.
