Pours a dark, hazy tea color; a reddish tinge; thin, light tan head with patchy lacing. Kind of a surprising aroma, but maybe I’m just not particularly fluent in Baltic Porters: lots of bananas, cloves, brown sugar and wet malts; tasted blind, I would have sworn this was some sort of wheat beer, but the Dunkelweizen was out when Russ was there; odd aroma, with a slight vegetal note. Medium-to-full mouthfeel: chewy bananas, cloves, and doughiness; generous wheat beer character; dammit, is this a wheat beer? could be a clean baltic porter just as easily, and I’d be interested to see the grain bill; chewy, generous stuff; not overly sticky, with plenty of creme brulee and chewy brown sugar throughout. Interesting, tasty beer. Medium, sticky finish: cotton candy, brown sugar, and wet malts; a touch messy. tronraner (1933), Seymour, Tennessee, USA
| 3.4 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 3/5 | 7/10 | 4/5 | 13/20 | Oct 5, 2007 Draught at the brewpub. Pours dark mahogany with tight beige head. The aroma is nutty with some chocolate and caramel and a little bit of spicy alcohol. The flavor is caramel and toffee with some woody hop bitterness. Earth and chocolate come out in the finish. A bit rough around the edges, but it smooths out a little in the finish. Miver (568), WillowStreet, Pennsylvania, USA
| 3 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 5/10 | 3/5 | 6/10 | 3/5 | 13/20 | Sep 17, 2007 I’ve had this a few times while at the brewpub on draft (sampler). Pours light brown with tan head. A little roasted chocolate but nothing really jumping out at me. I didn’t actually get much alcohol from this, if anything it hides the 7.7% pretty well. This one is sub par for such a great brew pub. kp (8500), Woodstock, Georgia, USA

| 3 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 3/5 | 6/10 | 2/5 | 13/20 | May 6, 2007 This was one of a couple higher ABVs at the brewpub. The feature is sourness. A whisp of head on amber brown. A medium head and medium to light mouthfeel. ¾ (4999), Colorado, USA
| 3.3 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 3/5 | 6/10 | 3/5 | 14/20 | May 5, 2007 Draught at the brewery. Medium dark brown colored body with a tan head, ample light showing through the edges of the glass. Sharp, bourbony, boozy toasted grass flavor, with charred oats, light vanilla, some cream, dry wood, and a dry, starchy finish. Rich toffee, dry and toasty. Not smoky at all, but high octance and very toasty without having smoke, chocolate or coffee. Good, different, but doesn’t hit the spot. Boozy vanilla extract flavors become almost unbearable half-way through, almost like a "crown royal" booze flavor. Strange.
