Commercial Description:
Made with 100% certified organic ingredients, domestic malts and New Zealand hops, this strong style of Porter developed in the countries surrounding the Baltic Sea in the late 1700’s. Ours is soft, velvety, and full bodied with hints of cocoa and toffee, finishing with an underpinning of roast.

Light brown. Fruit nose with some chewy malt. Sweet and fruity, it finishes with a shot of alcohol. Some decent caramel bu not much dark malt. Nothing Baltic about it. Disappointing.

On tap at the Selins Grove Brew Pub. Poured a deep brown with a small sized off white head. Aromas of caramel, toasted nuts, grains, and some dark fruits. Tastes of toffee, toasted nuts, some dark fruitiness, and chocolate.

Draught at the brewery. Medium dark brown colored body with a tan head, ample light showing through the edges of the glass. Sharp, bourbony, boozy toasted grass flavor, with charred oats, light vanilla, some cream, dry wood, and a dry, starchy finish. Rich toffee, dry and toasty. Not smoky at all, but high octance and very toasty without having smoke, chocolate or coffee. Good, different, but doesn’t hit the spot. Boozy vanilla extract flavors become almost unbearable half-way through, almost like a "crown royal" booze flavor. Strange.

RBSG 2006 - DC Grand Tasting Lineup Amber brown, light head and lacing. Nose of light roast, subtle sweet fig and raisin. Seems a bit light on the roast and chocolate category. The flavor is sweet, chewy, notes of malt and grass. The finish is herbal and malty, excellent but not a baltic porter by my tastes.

Growler. Poured a hazed copper-brown color. Lightly roasted malt and chocolate make up the flavor and the aroma. Tastes like a brown ale to me but with a little alcohol. Light to medium body.

This was one of a couple higher ABVs at the brewpub. The feature is sourness. A whisp of head on amber brown. A medium head and medium to light mouthfeel.
