Pours very dark brown with reddish highlights with a very thin off-white head that faded to a ring after about a quarter of the glass. Pleasant aroma of roasted malt and chocolate. Some dark fruit vapors emerge as the beer warms. Incredibly flavorful with lots of malt, some roastiness, chocolate, plums, and raisins. Smooth, silky mouthfeel. Light-moderate bitterness at the finish. I really enjoyed this one. darkguardian (506), Florida, USA

Complex Baltic porter, one of the best I have had. Whats more it differs because there was no real strong coffee dominating. Big chocolate taste with cinnamon and toffee and a bit of floral hoppiness. A real gem, my third favorite from the JCBF. Nejhleader (930), Lemoyne, Pennsylvania, USA

My only complaint is that it seemed a tad on the thin side. Had a sweet/roast kinda taste to it with maybe like a ting of coffeeish taste. I enjoyed it. bierkitty (5), elysburg, Pennsylvania, USA does not count | 3.8 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 3/5 | 8/10 | 3/5 | 17/20 | Apr 20, 2007 This sampling was from on draught at the brewpub......It was dark yet clear with garnet highlights and a medium head. I’m not sure exactly what color a baltic porter should be, but in my opinion it could have been a tad darker. Flavor was malty, coffee/chocolaty and slightly sweet with a trace of hop bitterness in the finish. The wonderful atmosphere of the pub enhances the flavors of all the beers. I’ve been told some previous batches of the Baltic have been a little on the sweet side but this one was nicely balanced and really yummy overall. Excellent beer burps! adrian910ss (1436), philadelphia, Pennsylvania, USA

Aroma of lightly smoked and roasted malts. Taste of smoke and charcoal with a malty backbone. jehoey (766), Shippensburg, Pennsylvania, USA

Amber brown, light head and lacing. Nose of light roast, subtle sweet fig and raisin. Seems a bit light on the roast and chocolate category. The flavor is sweet, chewy, notes of malt and grass. The finish is herbal and malty, excellent but not a baltic porter by my tastes. kmweaver (2501), Sebastopol, California, USA

Pours a dark, hazy tea color; a reddish tinge; thin, light tan head with patchy lacing. Kind of a surprising aroma, but maybe I’m just not particularly fluent in Baltic Porters: lots of bananas, cloves, brown sugar and wet malts; tasted blind, I would have sworn this was some sort of wheat beer, but the Dunkelweizen was out when Russ was there; odd aroma, with a slight vegetal note. Medium-to-full mouthfeel: chewy bananas, cloves, and doughiness; generous wheat beer character; dammit, is this a wheat beer? could be a clean baltic porter just as easily, and I’d be interested to see the grain bill; chewy, generous stuff; not overly sticky, with plenty of creme brulee and chewy brown sugar throughout. Interesting, tasty beer. Medium, sticky finish: cotton candy, brown sugar, and wet malts; a touch messy.
