kramer (1888), sunbury, Pennsylvania, USA May 2, 2006 On handpump at brewpub. Pours a dark black with some mahogany edges and a small creamy dark brown head. Aroma of chocolate and black patant malts with molassas, coffee, milk chocolate, and a touch of alcohol. Flavor is of chocolate malt up front with a finish more prominant of burnt malt. Light alcohol, coffee, and a little bit of yeast. Mouthfeel is fairly well thinned out due to the extended aging and attenuation level attained after five years in the keg. Minimal carbonation, due mostly to the the handpump, I assume, with a slightly oily texture. A pretty nice beer, certainly has an aged feel on the palate with the thinness. I wish I would have had the original release to compare to.
