kramer (1868), sunbury, Pennsylvania, USA Feb 21, 2006 On tap at brewpub. Pours a dark mahogany with a 1 finger creamy beige head. Aroma is very fruity with banana bread, toffee, and some alcohol. Rich malty flavor, tons of caramel and toffee. Finish is sweet, but with some bitterness cutting thru the cloying malt. Mouthfeel is smooth with minimal carbonation, very creamy. Slightly cloying on he finish. Overall, rich and malty with a nice warming alcohol feel without being overpowering. Probiere (992), Iowa, USA Jan 24, 2004 Straightforward caramel and biscuits. A nice, pleasant beer, but nothing complex. Finishes clean and somewhat dry--unusual for something this sweet, but a nice touch.
